Great to see an old thread revived.

1. '72
2. Chevy
3. C-10 Custom
4. Long Bed
5. Fleet Side
6. Bench
7. Medium Green
8. Medium Green
9. None
10. 307
11. 3-Speed Manual
12. None
13. None
14. None
15. 2 Wheel Drive
16. 3.73

I have a pretty plain jane truck. But that's how I like it, lol. It has the shortest SPID I believe I ever seen:

-Painted Rear Bumper
-HD Rear Springs

Note that this truck has Manual Front Discs.

I really like it that way and it stops great.

Re: Truck Options Survey

I would love to know the story on manual disc brakes in 72 GM's. I had a 72 Firebird with them. One year only thing. That car stopped great. Big cam no worries.

That's true. The pedal effort for manual disc was a bit higher than for manual drum, but not something really bad. AND, if the vehicle quits for whatever reason, the brakes still work the same. My wife was lucky when our 2000 Astrovan quit due to a failed fuel pump. The brakes and the steering were both hard to handle, but she happened to be getting off the freeway at a long off ramp with no traffic, and managed to wrestle it to a stop with no power assist from the steering or the brakes (hydraboost).

Re: Truck Options Survey

Good job on your wife's part. Aren't those Astrovans hydroboosted? I've tried to stop one of those with no power.
I put a 74 Dodge Power wagon in the ditch on a corner many years ago when the aux fuel tank went dry. Most rigs will start to stumble when that happens. Not that 440 it would die like you shot it. No steering and Flintstone brakes.

Yup, hydraboost. And Flintstone brakes and John Armstrong steering. She's lucky she was slowed down (she drives like a snail, anyway ).

I love the truck and seems to be quite the mix of options for a dealer inventory truck. Seems more like the way someone would have personally specked out the options they wanted. I talked to the original owners son and truck was bought from dealer inventory.
