On a different front, after spending 3 weeks trying different oil pans, I found youtube video that recommended using 2020-2022 truck pan (GM part# 12707243). It showed up this afternoon and fit like a glove!!!! Best of all, it was only $210 shipped and it came with all new bolts and a new oil filter!!!! WIN.
No prob. Curious what the oil pan lools like.. add a pic

So I have the B&M dipstick for the 8L90 and wouldn't you know it I came across this just days after I purchased the B&M kit.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/29533888647...Bk9SR7SqtrSQYQ

Possible options for you.

I sent them a message asking for pictures of it installed. Would like to know how it comes out over the engine. Thanks!

Are you using the original dash gauges?

Re: L86/8L90 Swap info

Saw this on FB, and it took me a minute to put together your name Robert rather than Rob, I'm slow sometimes....

Anyway, does the Speartech module make the DD cluster show all 8 gears?

Hey Brotha! How's it going? I'm using DDs BIM OBDII module, Speartech setup up the wiring harness, computer and the TUTD. It does show all the gears (I was driving when I snapped that picture), at least on the HDX/RTX gauge packages. In the gauge setup up you can even select different shift patterns....PRND321, PRNDSL... DD recommended I use PRNODSL. They also said the BIM "learns" the gears as you use it. Their word not mine, LOL. It's a really nice setup. Take care and let me know if you have any further questions.

Robert....

Re: L86/8L90 Swap info

Here's a picture of the gauge panel with the 8th gear showing. The second picture is the DD bluetooth app that show real time info from the gauge cluster.

Re: L86/8L90 Swap info

Finally finished up the project in June. Maiden voyage was back to its home in Dallas. 600+ miles, no issues and averaged 24 mpg! Here's a few finished pictures.

Well done!

What did you end up doing for a transmission dip stick? Also what rear gears and tire size? Were you satisfied with the performance?

There's a guy on Ebay that makes for the Camaro LTs but they work on truck engines. 3.42 gears, 28.5 tall tires, it performs quite well....

Thanks Clint. Once that one was finished I started working on my 84 that I'm also doing a L86/8L90 swap in. I'm doing a few things different, but it will be basically the same setup.
