Air baggin a Buick Riviera

MODS feel free to move or delete this thread , since it's not a Chevy truck.

Since my 69 SWB (Surf Blue) is essentially finished I thought I'd turn my attention to my 63' Buick Riviera. So far I've rebuilt the the front end with all new ball joints, tie rods, and bushings, setup the front end to accomodate Some Firestone 2600lbs. bags, relocated the shocks, and painted all the suspension parts that I've removed.

I'm planning on running 2 Viair 480's and the E-leveling kit from Accuair, and I'm gonna finish the front end completely before I start on the back. I'll have more pics soon.

Re: Air baggin a Buick Riviera

Here is a thread from the HAMB you may have an interest in. I love these old Rivs. I have a customer (Im in the copier business) who's parents have a 65 they bought new, they are kicking around the idea of selling. I would love to have it but my extra car funds have taken a huge hit this year. So for now Im just gonna have to hope they dont sell it =)

Re: Air baggin a Buick Riviera

I made a little more progress today, got the front end completely finished and reassembled so that's out of the way now. Ran some airlines and started on the back end. Out back I had to remove the exhaust from in front of the back wheels all the way back to free up some space. I also had to make upper and lower cups for the bags and do a few other small things. According to my measurements it should lay frame with no problems, but we'll see. Here's some more pics.

I enclosed a pic of Surf Blue in my garage also, my wife is all over my butt to get this project done so she can have her garage parking back

Re: Air baggin a Buick Riviera

Nice Riv man... I love those cars.... ! One thing you may take another look at is where you mounted your shock mount. Mounting it on the strut rod multiplies the motion ratio that much more which really knocks down the working stroke of the shock effectively rendering it useless. Obviously I am not there running the front suspension up and down to be able to judge the stroke so this is only a suggestion

Thanks, I'm aware of that. Unfortunately space is extremely limited to even be able to run shocks without losing turning radius, so this was my best option.

Could you elaborate more on what you mean by "the working stroke of the shock"?

Re: Air baggin a Buick Riviera

Well it's essentially done. The only thing left to do is get and install the E-leveling system, but that's going to have to wait since I'm temporarily between jobs. So for now I'm just going to run a 7 switch , switchbox.

BTW the water trap is only mounted there temporarily.
