I did a search a couple of weeks ago concerning dually wheels on a '68 C20. There was some discussion, but I never saw, (or missed) what type of wheels will fit my truck.

It currently has a tube-type 16" wheel (not exactly a split-rim but not a regular steel wheel either. Sorry I don't know the correct name for the type.) What I would like to do is run a set of radials but these wheels won't do it.

The wheels are 16" with a 4 1/2 inch center pilot hole, and 8 lugs with a 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Is there an after-market wheel or (ah-hmm) another brand wheel that will fit?

are you sure it is 4-1/2". I think you will find it is 4-5/8. Your 68 will have smaller diameter studs than the 1970-71 and up trucks. You should only have to drill out the opening and install the larger studs. (I am thinking you have 1/2" dia studs and they went to 9/16".) I used 2001 wheels on my 1971 C30 and I know others have used late 90's Ford alum wheels too.

Thanks Da-Burb! Now that I know where to start looking I might make some progress. You're right, the pilot hole is 4 5/8...when I measured the front it was a toss-up as to which dimension to use (4 1/2 or 4 5/8) because there's a lot of paint on these things!

BTW, plain steel dually wheels were $42 each for brand new. I found my set of 7 new wheels for $200 and it came with new trim rings, new lug nuts, and bright lug nut covers.
