Don't you hate when..

you get everything back together, look over to see a screw or washer left over.
I just finished riveting back together my passenger vent window. Went to place the spring and nut assembly on the window stud and realized I forgot that the rotation limiting washer must be first placed on the stud BEFORE you rivet the window onto the frame. And of course, the rebuild kit only comes with 1 of these step rivets per side.

Re: Don't you hate when..

I didn't replace the step rivet on mine. Are you talking about the top pivot? I just removed the 2 rivets that hold the hinge for the top pivot to the frame. I thought it would be easier, and it was. Those 2 rivets are the same as all the other small rivets. I got the rivet kit from GMC Pauls. I had to deepen the holes in the rivets a little bit by drilling them deeper in order to get a good tight fit of the rivets when installed. But it worked out just fine.

Re: Don't you hate when..

Yes the pivot rivet as I found they are called. The rivet is stepped and the kit from GMCPauls was my original source as well. There are 2 rivets different than the rest in the kit. They are for the pivot point for the glass frame. No extras of these two odd rivets, so if you mess up, it is a pain. LMC had just the pivot rivets available. I could not find for less anywhere. I needed a couple other small parts, so shipping was reasonable. It's just the frustration of a really dumb move.

Re: Don't you hate when..

Thank you for the offer. I ordered a pair from LMC. Price was decent and I piggybacked with a few other small parts so shipping averaged out pretty low. I do very much appreciate the offer.
