Post got the LT1 !

I just couldn't swing the price of the LS1, but I landed the LT1. Actualy the guy threw in the rest of the 1996 Trans Am in on the deal. So I have the fuel pump, dash, seats, console and posi. disc brake rear end. Is it feasable to have a front rotor redrilled to match the smaller patern on the Trans Am rear end so I could use this in my truck also and not have two different paterns? Also on the reverce flow is there any thing that needs to be done like switching inlet and outlet on the radiator?

The Trans Am rear is too weak in the car that weighs 1000# less than your trucks. Keep the truck rear. You could redrill if you wanted to use the wheels but chances are they have WAY too much backspacing. The car brakes are insufficient for a truck as far as heat dissipation goes. Not enough mass to the system.

Actually, you can use the rear brakes from the T/A they should be 12.2 0r 12.6" in diameter they are the same brakes that came on the Impala SS's and 9C1 cop cars and those were 4200# cars, even haevier with all the police communications equipment. although the rear end will need help. You will need to have the bolt pattern redrilled to a 5 on 5" . You might run into problems with fitting 15" wheels over the rear brakes especially aluminun wheels.

just to make things interesting I am going to throw a third opinion in. if all you plan to do is "cruise" your truck then the T/a rearend will be good. Even though it is only a 10 bolt in stock form those are good to around 400hp. If you beef it up then you will be a ok no probs. the 15" wheels will fit many of the caprice's had factory discs and 15" wheels. If you do keep the rear axle you can get caprice or Impala axles out of a salvage yard and the rotors from an Impala the you instantly have the 5 on 5 bolt pattern. Second option buy axles from currie enterprises specked with 5 on 5 bolt pattern. This is just what I would do in the same situation.
