Speedometer gear reducer for 700r4

Hey guys, finally got my 700r4 installed and working. Now, my speedometer isn't working. Part of it just pulled apart so I know it was junk, and I probably lost pieces of the cable for the gear reducer, so I need to get a new one, but I assumed I needed a new one anyway. So the question is, what's the part number for the gear reducer to work with a 700r4, and a 3.40 rear end?

This might help you find what your after if you know the rest of your trucks specs. It helped me on my 2:73 to 3:73 gear swap. http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Tech...eedo_gears.asp

That looks like it would work if I knew what the drive and driven gears were. I suppose I'll have to take the speedo cable output apart on the 700r4 to see what exactly it's talking about?

btw... your truck looks familiar. I take notice of every square body I see driving, and I swear I've seen yours around...

Re: Speedometer gear reducer for 700r4

Ok, I think I have this all figured out. First, I went here: http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...n_______va.htm and the picked out my transmission / rear end / tire height combo, and got the drive gear combination from there. So I ordered the correct combination of gears, and if I did everything right, I should be good to go from here. Now I just have to figure out how to switch out the drive gears...

Here's 2 different sites that helped me and my buddy do my speedo gear swap. http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/drivetrain/spdgears.htm AND HERE http://www.thirdgen.org/speedogear I drive mine every day mostly in and around FWB, but she's minus that ugly camper top now. I too check out every square that I pass round these parts. Hope this helps man.

There is a great piece on this forums "faq" section . I'm doing a gear swap and found it extremely helpful.

Appreciate it. I ordered my new drive and driven gears just yesterday, so I'll be doing a little work here on it soon. I'm sick of seeing it sitting in a parking lot because I'm not driving it.
