1972 bbc engine mount question

could somebody tell me the correct diameter bolt for the 1972 big block engine mount. the long one that is 9/16" or 1/2" dia. ( it bolts the clam shell to the rubber mount. the clam shell will fit a 9/16" bolt perfect but the rubber will only take it half way. is it just new and tight or do i have the wrong size ( 9/16" ) bolt ?
