Re: Here's a simple solution to center speakers

Cut the opening...

Build the rest of the console up and around the trim panel and then checked for fit again...

Also added bracing under the cup holder to add structural support...

Fiberglassed a little tray where the Ford shifter used to be...sanded it down and did some touch up work on the piece.

Second photo is application of Suede-Tex...I love this stuff...

Third photo is cup holder piece. Blow off the overspray suede and its ready to go...

Re: Here's a simple solution to center speakers

Final assembly and installation...

I found a really cool, blue led "Power" turn on button on Ebay for $5! Decided to sink that into the black trim panel and it is my main control button the turns on the entire stereo system...looks pretty cool if I do say so myself...when the stereo circuit at the battery is on...it glows blue! You can see it in Post #28

Then it was off to the upholstery shop for headliner, door panel and Katzkin leather seats...only had 3 weeks to my hometown car show.

thank you for looking...

Tom

Tom, due to a water related incident, I'm replacing all my gear in my truck. The HU in your build has been discontinued. What current model would you suggest?

I am running the Pioneer DEH80 - PRS. It is still available and for less than $250 online...if you don't need the DSP then there are lots of great units available for less than $200

It's ok...Pioneer tends to overload their systems with a lot of extra options. I will say their system of sweeping the spectrum and handling all the time alignment was amazing. Push a button and it does everything perfectly...

Re: Here's a simple solution to center speakers

Even though I am no audiophile I found this thread really fun to watch. The craftsmanship was amazing. No idea how you guys can figure out all the wiring and such for these crazy systems.

Is it all finished now? Love to see some completed pics.

Re: Here's a simple solution to center speakers

I love your audio install. I competed Iasca in 95/96 sponsored by Kimber Cable and Orion. Used HCCA 225, and 250, Clarion DRX9175l and DPH9100, and Orion Components and Image Dynamic Horns. 3 JL 12w6 first gens. in a 91 CRX.

I miss those days. I love your Zapco amps. I have been out of the Audio deal since about 99. I have been fiddling with designing a decent system for my 62. I am not going to be using any real High end stuff as my budged does not allow it, but i will be running compnents in the Kicks, and was very interested in seeing how you set up your center channel and how you would wire it. A friend deals Audiopipe and is giving me a screaming deal on my equipment, i know its not the best but i cant pass the deal. I can have a choice of about anything they have. Was looking at running a 4Channel for the Highs, and running 2 8s very simmalar to yours. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I have picked up a Pioneer DEH-80PRS as my Head unit. any input on speakers, i will be running 6.5 components in the kicks, and am debating on doing anything in the center. Thanks again!

Again i love your build. Thanks for posting it all.

did you ever post a thread on the build of your kick pods? ready to start mine and really liked what you did to yours. Would like to emulate the same process if possible.

Thank you for the great audio information. I am doing an install on my 66 C10.
I went with a Aurora design converted radio with Audison dsp/amp 10 subs, 6.5" mids with external tweeters. I have found your build info very useful.
