remove cab or not

I am doing a patina restoration on my 65 c10. I am redoing all the interior and detailing under the hood. I wanted to leave the cab on the frame but I need to install both floor pans and rockers inner and outer. It also needs the cab braces so should I do this on the frame or just pull the cab. I already have the front clip off and am going to strip the interior.

Gonna be alot easier if your not having to work around the frame and other parts...if your that close ,it wont be much harder to just pull it

I would for sure pull the cab. If you can lay the cab on its back, it makes it easier to do the work, and you're going to want to seal everything up so it doesn't rust.

You will get a lot better access to places you need to work on.

I wish I had the room when I started my build to remove the cab. I cleaned and painted as well as I could but it would have been a better result removing the cab. Now I have a shop with room to work I am too far along for that.

Thanks for the replies. The cab will come off. I may start working on it today after work.

Before you start make sure your doors fit good. Then weld the bracing in the cab to keep it from moving. X braces in the doors and braces from side to side. I have seen several cabs that had moved when the cab mount braces rotted and several more that moved when the work started and the cab was not braced.

I was just going to say this basically same thing, jus make sure you brace up the inside just to be safe. I am happy you are taking the time to do it right. I can understand not wanting to because you may find more issues and it will take more time, but in the end you will be so happy you did. I have done 2 ("66 now and previous "69) of these now and this latest one is far beyond what i did for my "69 and i could not be happy that i took the time to do it this way, BUT damn it is not fast at all!!! LOL This will be year 2 in the making but when i am done next year, it i will be so much more happy that i took the time to do it right, right in my mind... lol

There will always be more patching do do than you think. It may be a good idea to replace body mount bushings while you are at it. Removing the cab will make it easier.

Funny thing about a rat. A few years ago I had a cab in the shop I got from a old junk yard and was doing rust repair on it. I starting noticing things being chewed and found out a rat was living in the cab. I left the cat in the shop all night but rat was still in the cab. A few days later found it dead in the kick panel vent.
