1966 C10, Fleet/Short, Stock except paint

So I am going to join the ranks of the serious forum hounds and start a build thread.Going to start with some basics:
1966 C10, shortbed, fleetside, 2wd, manual steering and brakes, original 230 inline 6, 3 speed saginaw with a Hurst floor shifter. Newer bed wood when purchased. Most all of the bodywork was done when I bought it (thankfully) and I have got it running well, cleaned it up some, and am moving forward with it

The pic with the front clip off is from about a month ago. Took it off in prep for the 283 swap. Going with a V8 but keeping it correct numbers for the coolness/original/prove that old stuff rocks factor.

Re: 1966 C10, Fleet/Short, Stock except paint

More recently. Got the I6 out of it. (It's up for free on the southeast paying it forward-free stuff thread {see the regional area of the site})

Set it on the ground to take the transmission parts off it. I am hoping the fork, linkages, and shifter mount are going to work on my Muncie M20 trans I got off of eBay. What's the worst that could happen, right?

The engine bay was basically an entire Saturday of wire wheeling, sanding, grinding, degreasing, pressure washing, drinking beer, and spray painting.

Pic 2 and 3 are before (sorry at night the camera wasnt great)

4 and 5 are after.

Trying to get hustled along cause the new engine should be ready by next weekend. Sorry neighbors, but the grinding sound isn't going anywhere. I love living outside city limits.
