48 elec lock with Altman latch Question

As stated, I have the Altman latch with electric door locks. I got the rider's side installed, with the key lock on the door cut to fit. The key lock works the lock and unlock function fine, but the problem is with the electric lock.

The electric lock unlocks fine, but when I try to lock it, it springs to lock, but then bounces back. It won't stay extended. Any idea what can be done to correct this?

I thought maybe shorten the steel rod between the electric actuator and the Altman, you can see it in the picture.

Any thoughts on what I can do to make it lock with the electric actuator?
