Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

cant quite figure out how to post my profile picture. its my 89 std short bed. brand neww 350 bored to a 400, with a holley? street avenger kit and a 6-pack tuner. puts 477 HP to the wheels. and still get good enough gas mileage to go about 250 miles a day everyday haha. bought it for 2000 so these things must be pricey down there?
anybody know much about shaving the upper bodyline on these trucks?

edit: sorry guys its lowered... thanks to the PO i got a suspension on the way for it though. so pavement scraping will be no more.

Let's see if this works. Now in black primer, new 400+ HP roller SB, and a 14 bolt. Straight axle is next.

I love my reg cab though. I need some pics to post, maybe tomorrow.
My next one is going to be a ex cab I need more room to carry my extra cloths for plowing but it will have to be a short bed or a 3/4ton Suburban then there is plenty of room. I bought a 97 short bed 4x4 a couple years ago that was so sweet I paid $4500 for it and drove it all summer and was going to put a plow on it but I just couldn't do it it was just to nice so I sold it for $6000 w/136000 mi on it. Here are a few pix of it.

^^^ in my opinion 1/2 tons dont do well with plows. i just think it to much weight for them to lug around.

There alot of them out there but you are right they can't take the abuse with liter running gear and the tires don't like curbs. The old straight axles are another story they will rock

you have weight in the bed dont you? haha. yeah i beilieve that 1/2 tons can do it. but i also believe that a pre 88 SA or after 88 at least 3/4 does alot better. I know it can be done and the truck can take it but it's just alot harder on it. I miss my 3/4 ton

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

finally got it. my second std. cab ever. first one went to my little brother. i Love this truck, especially since it had a very good PO for the most part. he wasn't firing on all cylinders when it came to the interior or paint spray painted "zebra" hood but thats minimal.

Here's one I let get away. I traded it in on a fancy new Silverado and quickly regreted it. I now have an 'ol '94 Ext/short Z71, but still dig the regular cab/short beds !

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

67olds, you know that little filter on the tbi ring is a good idea but you don't need it, you can cap that nipple off, and what it needs is the filter in the valve cover or a reg. breather cap. That unfiltered air gets in the crankcase and turns the oil bad or more acidic or something.

Really as far as that goes that tbi spacer ring doesn't even need to be on there with that air cleaner, it should clear everything fine without it and free up the air flow to the injectors at the same time. Just need the offset stud or cut the stock one down to work with your air cleaner. That style is terrible for coming apart and falling into the motor.

67olds, if thats a 3/4 do you know why the front wheels stick out further than the rears? it was like that on mine i just never cared enough to ask i thought it looked kinda cool.

Not to jump in front of TNZ, but I believe those wheels only came on 2007+ Escalade EXTs. They were the base wheel, but most of those trucks came with 20s.

I agree that they look really sharp on his truck with the bowtie center caps. I think they fit the look of the truck really well, since it's an original Sport model, meaning it didn't have a lot of chrome to begin with.

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

so on the wheels he probbly just got new bowtie caps?

i kinda thought they should on any 88-98 but i only really notice on 3/4 tons. mine don't im guessing cuz of the drop kit. (which by the way sucks) i hate drop kits.

edit: wait JB did you just call a Cadalac a truck? not approved.

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

Here's mine.

1988 Chevrolet Silverado K-1500.

Originally was a GMC Sierra. I re-badged it.

Dual Flowmaster exhaust, custom headache rack.

1994 Chevy W/T 1500 bed, 1990 Chevy Silverado grille, 1992 GMC Sierra passenger's side fender, 2000 Chevy Silverado wheels.
If I ever get the chance I want to put 6-lug 2500 suspension under it, make it heavier, and eventually throw a gooseneck hitch in the bed.
