Re: The build date project

Thanks guys. All I had with me was my phone camera and the truck was stacked on top of a 200X Suburban. I had to stand with my legs spread between the Suburban and the truck next to it to get the door jam sticker picture. And the SPID picture meant I had to carefully crawl in the cab. I did get a couple of trinkets out of the cab while up there though. I took a picture of the truck but it was so bad it was useless.
Oh the things we do for trucks.
Just don't tell my old lady.

Tyler, there is a typo in the first 8S chevy serial number...should end in 167.

I called GM, and they said those things were added during the model run after my truck was built. If I recall correctly, the build date they gave me was toward the end of the second week of December, 1968. The actual date may have been Friday Dec. 12. My truck was produced about 800 before another Fremont truck (9Z833902) on your list with the 12/5/1969 build sheet. Any estimate of what the lag time is between build sheet issuance to actual build, or how many trucks were built per day?
I think your build date would be 12/4 or 12/5. I saw your POP posted on another thread so I added it here.

Not much exists to my knowledge. Your pic is the highest 8T serial number on the list at the moment. Hopefully we find some more and can get an idea how many trucks they produced that year. Also, you won't find a blue door sticker until MY 1970.

Nice! That's the last 2F3 serial number on our list at the moment. I'm betting a build date on one of the last days of May. If you can get an engine or transmission date, that may narrow it down more.

'71 Flint GMC, F119181. blue sticker dated 04/71. Can't find the build sheet.
I'm guessing the VO428TBC engine translates to April 28. Were the complete engines stamped at installation? Would that be the build date. Want to know for it's 51st birthday next year.

The three dates are 4/28 as you mentioned for the engine, 4/23 (D23) for the rear axle, and 4/27 (117th day of year) for the transmission. With the build date sticker of 4/71 (and the D (April) by the chevy symbol on your paper), I would guess the truck's build date would be 4/29 or 4/30. Thanks for posting! I added it to my list on post 50.

2S191922, which puts it as a 5/72 build in STL based on info others have provided. No build sheet or door sticker anymore, but I have documents showing showing a delivery date of 6/1/72 in Ft. Leavenworth, KS from the Warren, MI plant.

Re: The build date project

Just noticed....Anyone else realize that it appears there were dedicated assembly lines in 1972 at the Flint plant? One for trucks (2F3 and 2F7 serial numbers) and another assembly line for Blazers and Suburbans (2F1 and 2F3 serial numbers).

But it appears that in 1971 the two lines did all models--trucks, blazers, and suburbans.

EDIT: On second thought, maybe the above is not 100% true. The 2F1 truck in post 235 disproves my theory.

Re: The build date project

72 Jimmy
2S516332 = TBD (post 299, Jimmy)

72 Chevy
2F138542 = TBD (post 299) another 2F1 serial number that isn't a Blazer or Suburban. Has me curious...Wondering if any patterns will develop.

70 GMC

72 GMC
