This is hard to wrap my head around, I really just can't believe that such horrible work could be done and sold!

At the end of the day though, it seems like the guy who did the work got stiffed the most.

I can't stand minis though... The trucks are fine, but around me the only people who have them are fat kids. The kind that wear tapout shirts, and confuse fat, with muscle...

Re: Hack job......MUST SEE

Oh, no offense meant to any mini owners around here. This place has people with...how should I put it? Common sense! I'm quite fond of the mighty-max, and LUV's myself.

It is just my local mini scene blows... Most of the 4x4 scene sucks too. There is a guy who is driving around with a '90's half-ton on 40" tires. Scary.

I still feel sorry for the guy who fixed the truck. It really seemed like he was doing a lot of work for zip. Which isn't fair.

I feel so bad for that kid. But he needs to fight back. That is illegal. His truck is not safe, and they made it that way.

I have to agree. If he does'nt fight back it will happen to someone else. A shop in our area, Bergee Automotive, finally went out of business a yr ago. We are still fixing botched suspension and brake work from thier shop. 10+ yrs of destroying peoples cars/trucks and no one fought him on it. So, it just kept happening. Not quite this bad, but almost. I am glad he is getting some help to fix it correctly, let me know if we can help. Merry Christmas

The worst part is surely that's not the only bag job this shop has done, wonder how many other death traps they're put out on the road...

and what kind of person could take $2500 from somebody for that kind of work? they have to be real low-lifes...

he would have to sue in civil court, it would cost him more in attorney fees and nothing says they won't do it to the next guy... word of mouth is the best way to fight moron shops like this...

Actually I did read that a name was disclosed and my speculation was based upon a google search of that business.
http://www.google.com/search?q=S+%26...41562a61b59af3
The only two hits that came back were from our forum and another forum talking about the same hack job on the Ranger. This story was written only about a year and a half ago and if there was any company of that name in this day and age then I speculated that there would have been more evidence of its existence than that.

Sorry if I offended you by my opinion, but it wasn't just spit balling I did check before posting.
I too have seen this type of work before and it usually amounts to a couple of guys who have great plans and no skill in their back yard, and have made some stickers and T-shirts to advertise their new company, weather or not poor Joe was one of those guys is pure speculation but I still doubt that it was an actual licensed company.

Re: Hack job......MUST SEE

I wonder if the "kid" tried this on his own w/a buddy or something? After putting a few miles on it, he might have realized some of the failures & possibly blamed it on another shop? W/o an initial receipt, there's always that posibility.

Judging by the response from most commentors within the threads, if this would have happened to someone else (or any one of us), they/we would have sought some sort of recourse or refund for sub-standard work. Not seeking any reimbursement @ all raises flags for me.

Then, when the 2nd shop offers to help w/free or reduced cost materials; including above & beyond average effort w/some un-paid time to make corrections, he wants upgrades to boot? That's not right.

Re: Hack job......MUST SEE

Well, according to the poster, the kid is 18 or so. I just turned 18 today, most of the kids my age don't know crap about anything that isn't a video game or a cell phone. I know of kids his age that don't know that you can return something to a store. It's stupid what kid's DON'T know. He could very well not know he can fight back.
