3" A/C Duct Hose - cheap source?

I just need a hose for the driver side A/C vent. I've looked at Home Depot, Lowes, and O'Rilleys for something that would work - no luck. Any ideas? They are nice but I don't want to spend $70 for the whole kit that some vendors sell.

That is odd I just picked up a 6 ft piece of 3 inch vent hose at Orileys yesterday for 7 dollars, its the plastic aftermarket stuff not like the original but it fit fine. I think you got someone that probably did not know they had it. The part number is #23848. If you go to their website its listed under that part number as well.

$7/foot. Ouch.

I was wondering around Mill's Fleet Farm last year about the time I was installing factory AC on my non-AC truck. I was in your position. The ducting made for that purpose was made out of gold and if it is anything like the repro defrost ducting I didn't want anything to do with it.
Fleet Farm is one of those giant stores where if they don't carry it, they don't make it. They got everything.
Anyways, I'm walking around by the bathroom section and ran across the bathroom fart fan ducting. It is that spring with plastic type of duct that compresses down to nothing. The bag was about $3 and contained enough to do both side ducts on my truck. With a little left over.
It is white in color so the trailer queen drivers out there who are worried about concourse d'elegance judges deducting points after they look under their dash boards will probably lift their noses to it but for $3 verses $42 I think it is what your are looking for.
I would guess Menard's, Lowe's, and Home Depot will have fart fan ducting. You probably just looked in the wrong section at Home Depot and Lowe's. I'd try them again.

I did the same thing back when I was dd my truck. Once I got past the platic smell it was ok . That smell goes away after a bit. Now that I am have mine nearly to a drivable condition I need to replace mine again. The budget is getting low so I may look for the aluminum 3" this time.

Has anyone tried thin walled PVC pipe? I have no experience with it bit I recall a board member mentioning that he was going to try it. Would outlast the truck if is doable.

I've seen the plastic crack within a few years..the cloth lasts for much longer...although the cheaper aluminum 3" duct from the hardware stores probably would work well and last.

That's what I want to build some day. I don't need or want anything but two pipes going to the defroster, I'll probably fab a new box, I don't need all the diverters and such.

Aw hell! I got my $13 3" duct from AutoZone and it's too big. 2-3/4" is what I need. Ordered another (2-3/4") this time. Dorman #96008 from Advance Auto $12.

It's just like me to try and save some $$ and end up spending more in the end than if I would have just ponied up and got the proper kit in the first place.
