'72 Suburban

I had been looking around for a quite some time for a '72 pickup, but wasn't having much luck. A friend turned me on to the classifieds on this site and I found this gem from a member in WI.

Grabbed a buddy and headed up there with my trailer.

That was about a month ago and I couldn't be happier with the truck. I've been using it as my fair weather DD, nursery truck and dog hauler.

My first 'mod' will probably be a stereo - nothing exotic, just something better than the 2 tinny speakers in the rear now I'm not a huge fan of the wheel/tire combo, but the previous owner just installed them so they'll stay for a while.

Here are some pics that I took yesterday.

Welcome to the board WayneE. I love your burb, it's the same color scheme as mine (I just had mine painted). Hope you enjoy your burb and keep us updated with your mods, even though it looks very well "modiefied."

Re: '72 Suburban

Thanks, Joe. I was admiring your paint job in the thread you posted.

I'll keep everyone posted on my progress. I have a lot of little projects with the truck that I'll be taking on once I finish 2 other cars in my garage

Re: '72 Suburban

I wish I could remember Mike's screen name. He's the one I bought it from in Appleton, WI.

He and the previous owner get all the credit for the way this thing looks. I'm just enjoying their hard work.

Re: '72 Suburban

Mike, it was great meeting you. The truck has been great.

You guys should know the kind of guy you're dealing with on your board. When I picked up the truck, I brought along a stack of cash and my cousin for company on the ~1700 mile roundtrip. When Mike found out my cousin was fresh out of the Army and had done 2 tours in Iraq, he thanked him for his service to our country. My cousin really appreciated the thanks.

But when Mike and I exchanged cash for truck/title, he peeled a big $ bill off the top and gave it back to me. He told me that it was a small thing compared to what my cousin had given to us, but that I should buy him a nice steak dinner.

I was surprised by the gesture. Here was a guy that I'd only just met and he was giving me money back from the transaction to show appreciation to a member of my family. It meant a lot to my cousin and me. We could use a lot more people like Mike in our society.

Here's a pic of my cousin:

Good luck in your quest for your Camaro, Mike.

They're 17s, I think 7" wide.

Drove the truck to VA to help a friend move yesterday. 1.5hrs of mostly interstate each way. Truck ran great and carried a bunch of stuff. When I got home, the wife enlisted the truck and me to drive around to the local nurseries. Filled the entire truck with plants - she's loving this thing.

Wow! Very nice Suburban. Definately one of the nicest ones on the board; and its even in my favorite factory color.

I'm glad you're enjoying driving it. That burb is one of the most sweetest rides I've seen. I can understand why you've already put all those miles on her.
