cross bar between motor mounts, what,s the purpose

I have a 80 2 wheel chev truck and it has a cross bar running from motor mount to other mount on the frame. Was wondering what the purpose of it is, I don,t see one on my other truck. Removing it sure helps taking oil pan off thou

Maybe a field installed attempt at a brush guard for the pan.

it sits on the frame and ties into the motor mounts, one on each side. I,ll get a better pic of how it goes on

Hard to believe it was a factory installation. My 82 C10 didn't have one.

I’ve seen that on a mid 80’s truck. I think it goes between the two lower aft holes of the motor mounts (under the mount). As stated above, ties them together.

ETA: I think this is it: http://www.gmpartswiki.com/getpage?pageid=56372

That,s it, been trying to find a pic of a frame online with it to show but do you think I could find one. It was just a curiosity thing and was wondering what the purpose of it was
