Aftermarket doors

I’m trying to speed up my Suburban project so I’ve been trying to find a good set of doors. I haven’t had any luck so I’m considering buying aftermarket.

Anyone have experience with aftermarket doors, if so what brand?

Re: Aftermarket doors

Well, I ordered a new pair of doors. So I will try to follow up once I get them.
I hope they’re close and don’t take a ton of work to fit.

Either way there’s no rust I guess

They are expensive and I'm sure they will take some work to fit.

I did an inner patch panel on my original doors and I'm just not happy with it. It's difficult to get the welds looking nice across the shapes on the bottom of the door.

I will be fitting these as soon as I get them, so I will post some pictures.

Definitely interested in seeing how they fit! Hopefully they won't give you too much of a fight.

I got my lower inner repair panels from truck shop. They were terrible. 1/4" to thick. spent a lot of time on fixing them. Wish I woulda had the money I would definitely get new doors

I got my new inner door repair panels from LMC and had the same issue. It took a little slicing and dicing but I got them to fit. I hope the new doors fit good for the OP.

Almost like they forgot to figure in the gasket thickness

Re: Aftermarket doors

I didn’t find the inner patches too bad to work with the outer ones though are a whole different animal to keep straight

Re: Aftermarket doors

I got the doors yesterday ( quicker than I thought). I unpacked them last night and checked for any shipping damage. Everything looks good so far.

I will rebuild my hinges and hang the doors this weekend. Hopefully I can post up some photos then.

Awesome! I have been anxiously awaiting your results as I need a passenger side door! LOL
Thanks for researching this for all of us!

Yes, I bought a set from Jegs last year. I believe they shipped from Auto Metal Direct. They fit better than the originals and that amazed me. On another note, I would be surprised if more than one manufacturer exists for something like this considering the amount of tooling that must be required to make them. I think they are all coming from the same place and rebranded but could be wrong. I got very lucky with mine, hope yours fit as well.

I'm glad to hear yours worked out. I'm hoping to get my hinges tomorrow, they're up on a pallet rack at work.

I should be hanging the doors on Friday.

I'm sure you're right about them all being the same. I have seen many fenders in different branded boxes and they all fit poorly.

My fenders actually fit pretty decent

Re: Aftermarket doors

I got the doors hung this weekend. I would say they fit good. The gaps aren't perfect but they're good enough for me. I'm not building a show truck.

I did have to bend in the bottom edge of the drivers door to match the rocker. I think this may have been an issue with the rocker I welded in years ago.

Here's a few photos of the drivers side. Now I will need to fit the fenders. Both of my fenders have patch panels welded in, so I'm sure they will take some adjustment.

They are pretty good. It varies from 1/8" at the bottom to about 1/4" at the top along the back edges. About the same along the top, it's really tight at the front, so I made a little adjustment to the drip rail. Overall I think it was worth the cost and will save me some time.

Would have been better if I didn't drop the passenger door and dent it.

Re: Aftermarket doors

Ouch...bummer about the passenger door. From this pictures, it looks like they're a pretty good fit right out of the box. As long as the body lines/curves line up...the door gaps could be easily tweaked, if you wanted.
