97 Tahoe 350 cam upgrade options

Hello all,

Im looking for suggestions on a slight cam upgrade for this Vortec. Its a daily driver and I rarely tow or haul heavy stuff. Im looking for something just above stock.

Thanks for your suggestions.
Steve

Re: 97 Tahoe 350 cam upgrade options

I've been looking for cams for my 99 Yukon. Went on youtube for something, found a vid of a guy that put a mellings cam in a build, said it made 300-ish horsepower n 400-ish torque. Said it was like 1-2 above a stock cam. Smooth idle, feet of vacuum, great low n mid range. 22129 was the part number. I might go this route with mine, once I figure out what direction I wanna go....

I would probably throw in a stock 2nd gen LT1 camshaft for a mild upgrade. That melling doesn't look terrible either.

395/Marine cam/350 RamJet is a great option for a heavy SUV. Same cam that is in the HT383 Vortec replacement engine GM sells.
