Re: Heartbreaking news about Grumpy Old Man

I was just thinking the same,
Every time I seen his post pop up I would read it, and always made you feel like he just taught you something more
Hopefully he had a prestige 67 waiting for him. He sure deserved and earned it.

Re: Heartbreaking news about Grumpy Old Man

Rest in peace Grumpy Old Man. Such a huge asset to us all. I know his family must be heart broken. I remember on one occasion he spoke so highly of his daughters and was proud of all the things they accomplished. I admired him and often reviewed his work to see the correct way to do it before I would give it a try. Godspeed Grumpy. Prayers for Mrs. Grumpy and the entire family.

A fine gentleman of the South in every sense of the word. He was a hoot for sure. It appears he did not suffer from the information we have. I hope Mrs. Grumpy knows how much he helped all of us. Another empty bay in our garage. RIP Grumpy

Re: Heartbreaking news about Grumpy Old Man

He was all about a '67. Coulda named himself Grumpy 67 Man

We're about the same age and both building '67s with era-correct hot truck vibe. He had his coming right along, unlike mine. I've been trying to kick it up a notch this year. His progress was motivating me. Now it will have to be his passing. R.I.P. Grumpy Old Man

I meant to post this quote above.

He lived about an hour from me and we had exchanged parts, thoughts, advise, and opinions.

I really have no words to express the shock and sadness this news brings.

Although he called himself "Grumpy" he was kind and friendly and full of stories of his life and the hobby that he so passionately loved.
The times that I was at his home, I had a hard time getting away because he loved to talk about Chevy trucks.

Please pray for Donna and the family as they process their grief in the days to come.
R.I.P. Kevin aka "Grumpy Old Man"

edit: I think that it was actually Friday May 5 rather than this past Friday
He was last on here on the 5th. I just wanted to say we are so lucky that you had gotten to know him and Donna so she'd have you to call with his sad news, or we may have never found out.

I'm sure others have passed and we have no clue. It's something to think about. I'm going to give my son someone from here to call, or sign on, in case anything happens

She told me that she found his old phone and charged it. When it came on, the first thing she found was some text messages that he and I had exchanged, and that's how she was able to get my number. I will call her later today and check on her.
She was also trying to get logged on here but didn't have the password. I have reached out to Liz to see if she can help her do so.

I asked her if she was OK with me posting the news and she actually wanted me to.
She knew how much he liked this forum and wanted to share the news.

There is more to the story that she shared with me, but that is hers to tell and hopefully she will be able to soon.

Once she has a chance to process her grief, she will probably start looking to sell some of the many parts and such that he had for these trucks.
I was at his house several times and he has a lot of parts stashed away.

He was kind enough to dig out a good cab that he was saving for another project and sell it to me for my '67 build along with several other parts I needed, and I had sold him a near perfect tailgate for his.
He sent me an ash tray thru the mail for free and wouldn't even let me pay the shipping. That's just the kind of guy he was...

Re: Heartbreaking news about Grumpy Old Man

I was just out in my shop looking at my panel. Like I mentioned early on he built me what in my mind is the perfect period correct custom interior, red of course. Lots of on the phone conversation and emails. I had forgotten he also built me the interior for my K20 exactly how I wanted it to look. Dang he is really going to be missed. I hope whoever gets his project can finish it like he was shooting for.

I had not been on in a few days and missed this fully. I am thankful that the OP PMd me to put me in touch with Mrs. Grumpy. She will be coming to pay us all a visit. I know your kind words will be a blessing to her.

Every member loss is terrible, some hit a little closer to home so to say. GOM was a huge asset to this community. I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing. I am heartbroken for his wife and family. Deepest condolences to all. God speed.

I have Admired and Communicated with Grumpy for several years now.

A couple of years ago He purchased a door or 2 ? from (Member) countr
I would have to look in the Storage Place where I have them.

We planned to have a family member meet me at the Interstate.
Something happen and we were both Okay with it.

I still have these in the storage place.

Another member was going to deliver to Grumpy.
Carl left the Truck show at the Nashville raceway here in Lebanon

Well the key broke in the Lock.

So I got the lock issue fixed.

The door/ doors are in safe keeping still.

You married a Great Man.
