Re: Heartbreaking news about Grumpy Old Man

This is very sad, I had just reached out to him to see if he was near where I am going to pick back up on the Appalachian Trail this fall. I'm always interested in putting faces to the names I see on the board. Wish I had thought of it earlier. Mrs. Grumpy you have my sincere condolences.

Very sad to hear, he was a pillar on the site and enjoyed his "grumpiness". Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Something happen and we were both Okay with it.

I still have these in the storage place.

Another member was going to deliver to Grumpy.
Carl left the Truck show at the Nashville raceway here in Lebanon

Well the key broke in the Lock.

So I got the lock issue fixed.

The door/ doors are in safe keeping still.

You married a Great Man.
Grumpy had reach out to me a week or so before the c10 nationals knowing where I lived and asked if I would be coming through Knoxville on my way home. He wanted me to bring the doors on my way home and he was gonna meet me just off the interstate. I gladly told him I’d bring them to him on my way and we made plans. So he sent me his phone number so we could stay in touch. We had spoke a couple times that day and he was trying to give me $100.00 for bringing them too him but I told him there was no need for that because I was coming right by there anyway. He had told me I could just use it for gas money and he’d be glad to give it to me for bringing them. I wouldn’t have taken it from him because I was glad to do it for him. I will say his screen name Grumpy Old Man didn’t match his character at all. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to talk to. But since the key broke in the lock, I went on home and didn’t get to meet him and put a face with a name.
We had also traded around on some parts a couple months ago and he wouldn’t let me pay for shipping on the parts I got from him as they was heavier than the AM radio I sent to him. Even though I never met him I feel like I knew him I guess because of this forum and his posts on here. RIP Grumpy you will be greatly missed and prayers for Mrs Grumpy and his family.

Sorry, I haven't been around much lately. This is quite sad to hear, he will definitely be missed.

The really bad thing is, if something like this happened to me, no one would have a clue that you guys are out there and might like to know.

I said something about that in a post the other day. Same thing here. I told my son to be sure to let you all know if something bad happens with me. I used to be in touch with several people in my area that I knew from here and was in touch locally. They're all off to oblivion now.

Terrible news. I got a pit in my stomach reading the first post, was hoping there was some kind of mistake. He was always very helpful. I recently bought some 67 vent windows from him, I will be thinking of him when I look through them.

Re: Heartbreaking news about Grumpy Old Man

Just learned of this and had to add my condolences.
By all means I hope the very best for Mrs. GOM and family.
And of course, this forum was family to him and I expect the number of people he touched here is was well into the hundreds.
Virtually every time I saw a post by GOM I read it regardless of whether the subject was important to me. I read them because he was such a pleasant, humble, sincere and informative person. No agenda - just positive constructive input with a touch of humor and humility.
Thank you Grumpy Old Man. RIP
