Local car meet up

Before the variant flue virus there were car meetups every weekend from April to December. I have been looking out and now there is only one at the first of the month in our area now. Finally found it last week. A pic of two 69 Camaros, SS 350 and a tubbed Z28, my friends Mustang on the left back. A red Ranchero on the right. Maybe 50 cars there, nothing else I was really interested in but I still like to look. Hope these meet ups do not become a thing of the past.

Re: Local car meet up

I really don't think that they will become a thing of the past. Despite any obstacle's. That is only a setback. We have a passion for these vehicles and no virus is going to squelch that. It may put us on ice for a while but it will never stop us. It sure as h*ll aint gonna stop me.

That's a nice Ranchero from what I can see of it. I had a 62 but it was a POS. I still liked it... Except when it wouldn't start. I wasn't too happy with it then.

Re: Local car meet up

It's nice to see the cruise-ins pick back up again. Our "Jimmy Cone" cruise night, which is 1st and 3rd Saturday is going on. I think it was last years, too. These days, I see small groups of younger people in pickups gathering in that parking lot often in the evening. The non-official spontaneous type cruise-ins that the cruise-ins try to emulate.

Re: Local car meet up

Is that the one at the Thousand Oaks Firestone store? 1st and 3rd Saturdays. I guess they've started back up? If so, I may go tomorrow for a couple hours. I met 72SB there last summer.

In Simi, parking lot in front of closed 99 cent store on Tapo, by Joann's fabrics. Only 1st Saturday of the month 4-6 PM. A fun couple of hours and it was good to see an old friend.

Re: Local car meet up

There are plenty of car shows around here. Anywhere from 40 - 200+ vehicles. Every weekend, generally starting around mid April but really ramping up in mid May. Due to heat in the summer the attendance slows down a bit. But, many shows are moving to evening time slots,

Will keep an eye out for you. Will go again and wife will be with me next time as my friend's wife will also be there. Got to get my truck done! Used to love local meet ups when I brought something to show. More conversation with some that are interested.

Good to hear. Where I am the custom scene is being obliterated by the powers that be. Life is good and fun is okay elsewhere. Crazy that a lot of car culture started in Ca. My choice is to not expire here. Love my wife to death and will deal with all that comes with her preferences.

I am hoping not soon and maybe never. Betting this electric fad will meet the same fate it has several times in the past, because of reality.

Re: Local car meet up

Pretty much one every night in my area . They run from 4pm to 8ish one big one is Bear Mountain . It’s so big they have Troopers directing traffic . I’ve gone a few times but it’s just to big and if you don’t leave early you get stuck in traffic

Re: Local car meet up

i was at a little local car gathering Friday night but it was cool and i guess the "meets" hadn't officially started for the year so not many cars? but today we went to another get-together,over 200 cars and trucks showed up.a great day,got to drive my truck for the first real amount of miles since putting it back together and finishing it up just a bit ago.i had a mirror loosen up and no kick down for some reason, but minor details.it ran very well and i'll get'er straightened up.

Good to see you are having fun sharing your hard work. Only one thing I enjoy about doing builds myself.

thanks Tim,i appreciate that,i do think the truck turned out real well,i'm very happy with it.we are excited to see Bob and Diane head this way.i don't know what we'll have for time to catch another show.they are cramming this trip in between his chemo schedule and the few days or a week he feels crappy afterwards, but for sure we'll cram in all we can or whatever he feels like doing,it'll be up to him and what he can handle.one thing for sure,if there aren't any shows to do while they're here, there will be a run daily to Trueman's home made ice cream and we'll use the truck for that,i can promise you that.all the best.Greg.
