government surplus dana 44's

Does anyone have any experience with government surplus dana 44 axles. I found vendor who has one and says "looks like all new parts" and has full time plug instead of hubs. vendor seems real reputable.

Would this be a good replacement for worn out unit. I have front drums and want to go discs with new parts and add my spicer big-hubs (3/4 ton dana 44).

All advise helpful.

thanks.

Normally they are brand new never been used! And cheap! A+++ in my book. you shouldn't have to give more than 5 bucks for the whole unit though. These vendors steel this stuff. Hope this helps

$5??

We are talking a complete front axle unit. I think we would all buy a boat load of them at $5 each. Seems like if they are bought cheap the reseller is going to want a fair price (his find, his gain) I want a good strong unit with good parts. Install and run.

I think I will pursue this some more and maybe buy one.

Any ohter opionions?

I'll give you 10 of my bucks for 5 of yours!!

Do you know of vendor selling these for this price range? Sure would like to find good source. The one I found was a bit more than that.

He's probably asking more than that but I bet he's paying less than 3 per unit. I knew of a guy down in TN who was hoarding D-60 from surplus. And he wasn't paying that much per unit. Also I guess I just figured everyone would know that these would cost more than 5 one dollar bills, or 500 pennies.
