More progress, I got the gas filler lid welded in (80's Nissan Sentra w/inisde cable pull), test fit the Goodmark passenger door, and pulled the headliner out.

Looks like I'll have to do a little tweaking around the door frame, but I guess that is pretty common.

Minimal progress, but I got the gas filler lid welded in. Will try to finish up the passenger side rocker tomorrow.

Kerry,

Thanks for the compliments. How's everybody up in South East VA doing? I spent 3 1/2 years there. I flew H3's at HC2 up at Chambers field in Norfolk, but we lived in VA Beach. I used to hang with some of the guys in SEVA Streetrods, Tommy Potter and James Wynn just to name a few. How's Randy E. doing? He should still remember some of my cars, 35 Chevy Coupe, 30 model A Woody and my 34 4Door Sedan. The 3rd picture (1930 Chevy Coupe) is of James Wynn's first car. Take care and Happy Holidays.

Last few pics before stripping it. I welded in all the holes in the back where barn doors were could be bolted on. I also welded over the indention for the striker plate on the floor. Finally took the Big Ship off jack stands for the first time since May. Heading to the stripping booth shortly..........

Re: 1969 Burb build-up (Bags, 5.3/4L60E, repaint, interior....)

I finally got the Suburban loaded up and headed to the stripping booth. I had planned on chemically stripping it, but ended up trading some paint booth time for use of a media blast room time. It took a little longer that I thought to get it ready. I had planned on stripping it Friday but didn't get it there until that evening. I pulled all the glass out and was very happy to find no rust under the seals.

I am going to have to stop by and see the progress. I should be starting on my truck again this coming weekend. I am thinking about just getting the right air tanks and mounting them under the bed to ease my pain. Let me know if you want the air tanks I have.

SoAla70 - There's a place here called StripMasters, 850-626-3188. Price depends on how much you want done, outside, inside, underneath. I'm guessing between $500-1000. They will also shoot Epoxy primer on it too for just a little more. My CrewCab won't be here until the end of January. Give me a heads up prior to coming down and we'll try to meet up.

Re: 1969 Burb build-up (Bags, 5.3/4L60E, repaint, interior....)

Well, after about a 12 hour day in the stripping booth, the "Big Ship" is no longer green!!! I found a couple of more rust spots I have to fix, but no major surprises were found other than my liftgate looking like swiss cheese, . I can fix it, but hopefully I can track a better one down. We should be able to get it in epoxy primer soon and then the body work can start. My painter buddy is trying to talk me into pulling it off of the chassis and putting it on a rotissiere, but I don't know if I want to go that far. It would definitely make finishing up the chassis a lot quicker and we could liner the bottom of the body................... .
