Re: How about some pics of custom stereos

I posted in June last year and have updated since then. I moved up to a Dual Hifonics and am going to be updating to a 5 Farad Power Cap so the headlights donīt dim themselves. ;-)

A guy over here made a German set of playing cards for fun and used the cars that show up for our "Saturday Night Cruises" here in Nuernberg.
He gave each person a nickname and thanked them in the leaflet that he put in the case with them. Check out the names. Look for Seanīs C10.

58 TRUK stereo install

thought i'd post my 58 chevy truk stereo install.
what started out as a simple 4'' metal dash fascia turned into this when i logged onto fiberglassforums.com

jvc single din dvd receiver, 4 sets of arc audio 4.5 component speakers, 1 arc audio 10'' sub, arc audio 4x400 watt speaker amp,
arc audio 600 watt sub amp, ebay 7'' headrest monitor and a radio shack antenna (under truck).
amps are mounted behind the driver seat, battery and sub behind the pass seat.

kick panels

door panels

the gas tank on my 58 was behind the seat, now relocated to the frame.
while this is for a 55-59 cab, the idea/design would work in any truck.
this enclosure is for battery, sub woofer and 2 amps, plus it blends into my armrest/console.

at this point it would fit any 55-59 truck (fleece only, not glassed yet)

primer contrast shows where cab ends and enclosure starts. both amps are stacked in this hole.

all that work only to cover it up with the seats

Ogre-

Do you have the part number for the antenna that you bought from "the shack". I thought about doing the same thing. Do you pick up good radio reception with it under the truck?

Let me know

Thanks
Marc

any cheap fits all antenna will do from auto zone, murrys or the shack. i pulled all the swivel stuff off it, down to the bare ant. reception is fine, though i rarely use it, mostly mp3s. i had 2 holes under my step that i wire tied the ant to. i slipped on some rubber hose to prevent it from grounding on the body.

Those kick panels look like prefabs. If so, which ones are they and how well are they built? Did you add any stiffening?

Re: How about some pics of custom stereos

4 pioneer speakers-250watts max each
2 kicker 12 inch L7 subs- 1500watts max, 750 rms each
1 boss 800.4 amp for speakers
2 kicker 750.1 amps-one for each sub
pioneer avh-dvd4000 headunit
0/1 gauge wire to distribution block, 4 gauge wire goes to each amp
4 gauge ground all around
optima yellow top battery
nothing too custom, just did what i could with the budget i had. can still feel the bass in the back of my seat with the top off

wanting to make custom kick panels out of fiberglass for 2 more speakers. maybe sometime down the line.

The kickpanels are Q-Logic, "Q-Forms 6-1/2 Component" enclosure. No, I did not have to add any additional supports, though I used whatever supports/bolts/brackets that were already on the truck to make the fitment look more stock.

They are more expensive than other enclosures, but as you can see by the pictures they fit perfect and match my interior very well... for a clean look.. and not taken anything away from the truck...

My E-Brake just happens to engage properly and clears the speaker about 1/4". Any closer and I would have to shorten the E-Brake about 1 1/2".

My E-Brake has always engaged at the top of the pedal very well, so I'm sure if anyone's has slack or it's at the bottom of the pedal when it engage's then you will have to modify.

The quality of the mids and highs work great in our style trucks, and worth all efforts if you are planning on keeping it!

Re: How about some pics of custom stereos

so heres mine, 1987 gmc v3500 std cab. 2 kenwood kfc-w1200f shallow mount 12's in a custom box, 2 rockford power 6x9's in custom corner cabnets, four 3.5 rockfords in the dash, kicker zx700.5 under the seat, and a kenwood head unit. as nice as the flashy custom boxes and molded fiberglass boxes and kick panel speakers are, ive never been a huge fan of having that much flashy stuff in my trucks, clean and simple are how i like it. this system rocks pretty good, for just being a simple setup, best in my town in a standard cab. itl make your ears hurt pretty bad if you push it that far. i like to put my seat back and not be able to see anything. the first pic is of the amp when it was being installeed, because theres no way to get a picture now lol

cmax87, How much did you pay for the sub box if you don't mind me asking? It looks awesome. Pretty much exactly what I want to do. Or possibly some of the measurements of it. Any help is appreciated.
