SBC 400 rear main seal leak fix
Recently installed a SBC 400 that had been freshened up on the motor stand.
After cranking for the first time ... oh yeah, that dreaded puddle of oil on your nice concrete floor showed up. To make a long story short. After several attempts to fix now laying under it and jacking motor up sky high so oil pan will clear frame. More pan gaskets, new seals . Found out that it had been line bored and needed the Felpro 2909 vrs the blue felpro 2900. Worked like a charm and no more leaks. Thought I would share this picture and maybe save someone else from this nightmare The 2909 brown seal is not as deep on backside channel to help compensate for the milled down ridge. Hope this helps Thanks JT from SC |

Nice! Lot of people don't know the nightmare machinists face line boring the 400 block. Hope you didn't forget to prelube the seal so it doesn't burn
