Question for those using a Jeep fuel tank

Evening all.

So, for those of you not familiar with my C10 I have a shortbed that I have put a fuel tank from a Jeep in behind the rear axle.

Nothing unusual there.

My question is for those that have gone down this path... what have you done with all of the “holes”!

There is one which I am assuming is the fill and a vent(?) and then 2 smaller ones on the other side.

Plus! From the fuel basket there is an inlet and outlet (forgot to add I am using a blazer basket)in addition to 2 other pipes a large and a small.



I am thinking that I can loop the two small holes on the far side of the picture, merge the vent into the fill tube but what about the ones on the fuel basket?

Is the large pipe another vent and should I merge that into the fill tube as well?

The smaller one I would assume goes to a charcoal canister on a Jeep so should I just block it off?

Also the fill holes seem very small - has anyone experienced any issues with this? As it is a brand new tank I “could” put in a new fill but would prefer not too.

I have also read about how the Jeep tank is 13 gallons but by moving the fill to the upper hole it can then hold 15 gallons or have I got that wrong.

Any reason to go with a 13 gallon Jeep tank over the 17 gallon Blazer tank? 13 gallons seems awful small for something that may get 12 MPG.

#1 reason is availability.

Jeeps are sold in the UK where we never got the Blazer (well officially) so there are limited spare parts.

The Jeep tank cost me £80 - so about $110 - where as a Blazer tank was £400 + shipping and tax so closer to £600 landed...

Having re read some info on the Jeep sites moving the fill pipe to the top hole seems to increase the capacity to 15 gallons, might have read that wrong but looking at it the positioning would indicate that it would be possible to get more in.

As for range, well the Uk is not such a big place and most of the places I would want to go, need to go are within a 2-300 mile radius so

- if I can get 12US mpg that would be 14.5UK mpg and a 15 gallon US tank will be 12.45 gallons UK, therefore range is going to be around 180 miles.

Not ideal but I can live with that.

Hoping with the T56 I might be able to eek that out too 18 on a run which gets me to over 220.

More questions.

Do I have too use the vent on the side of the tank or can I use them both for fill and then use the vent on the fuel basket?

Worry is this might be too small but just looking at options - well thinking out loud more like....
