cab and chassis,

see the distance from the cab to the rear wheels

Re: Is this a dually or a cab and chassis?

I don't know about the distance from the cab to the rear wheels (looks about right for a longbed to me)...but if it is a cab and chassis the rear tires will be closer together. If the flatbed is the same width as the cab then it is a cab and chassis since the flat bed completely covers the rear tires. If the flat bed sticks out on the sides (does not look like it does) then it would be a regular dually.

Re: Is this a dually or a cab and chassis?

ok I am gonna try an go look at it soon I will take better pics.. Basicly if rear end is same width as cab, its a cab and chassis. if it sticks out. its a dually.

If third digit in vin is a "B" (CHEVY) or "D" (GMC) its a cab and chassis, however in that era you could get a C&C in any wheel base

Re: Is this a dually or a cab and chassis?

If you try to bleed the rear brakes, and end up bleeding your knuckles instead....... its a cab and chassis.

the drums are very very close to the springs on the C&C trucks, the dually will have plenty of room.

Re: Is this a dually or a cab and chassis?

Went and looked at it. Pretty sure its a dually. As it says camper special. I am on the way home from looking at it. I will post more pics when I get home. Either way I am getting it. Bed is real nice. Little rust in drivers rocker panel. Electric windows etc. Hydro boast. Missing all the ac stuff. Here is the vin number if someone wants to help decode. Ccs339v121482

Re: Is this a dually or a cab and chassis?

According to the VIN and the info posted earlier, it isn't a cab and chassis. The truck looks really nice. Nice score.

Re: Is this a dually or a cab and chassis? NEW PICS!!

here are the pics and I got a few questions. In the pic of the front of the engine... Looks how that hose goes from the water pump to the intake.. Its a awefull angle. How is it supposed to be. also the pic of where the ebrake should be is this lever and like a valve. says its a hydrolic parking brake? how does this work.. I figure it was put in here when it was a wrecker. also, the big question, what would you pay for this.... I will list the pros an cons...

PROs
has a less then year old bed and its real nice.
decent tires with chrome simulators
454 that seems to runs good
newer holley carb and edelbrock intake
electric windows
none bent or rusted hood
has msd 6a box
nice exhuast
motor was rebuilt at some time in its life
has newer chevy steering wheel thats nice
new water pump, alternator, and starter

CONS
rusty drivers side rocker and some rust starting around the door openings and hinge area
has 81 and up front bumper that doesnt fit
awefull ugly paint.. looks to have been red and silver originaly
seat, headlinner, and carpet needs replaced or recovered
windows move slow as death
intake manifold has a small water leak in one corner requiring new gaskets atleast.
wiring is a mess!!! has a starter button and a seperate button for horn.. I HATE BAD WIRING.. plus is I have a ton of parts trucks to get parts and wiring from
All the ac stuff is gone.. I have most but no brackets for a big block.
the drivers side exhuast dounut is bad

How much room is there in between the rear tires and the leaf springs? Maybe take a pic from the front looking in that area.

That intake hose was replaced with a piece of heater hose when it actually should have a formed rubber hose, that is why that hose is all disformed.

That brake valve should operate like this I think:
Step on the brakes, while holding the brake pedal firmly turn the handle on the valve and this will hold the brakes like a line lock. Tow trucks had this a lot to help hold the vehicle where as the normal park brake just wouldn't do the job.

As far as what I would pay for it, IDK. With a good running 454 and that bed, I think it would be an ok deal at $1200-$1500 the way the economy is right now. If you really wanted it and can live with the problems you know you will have to fix, I wouldn't go more than $1800. But that is my .02. Good luck.
