Installed the front clip on Saturday, grille is temporary. This should be rolling in 2-3 months, what a long haul.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Picked up a 30 gallon oak keg for the 68 the keg was from a Winery in Oragon . Theme for the truck is going to be brewery related . As some know I’ve been brewing for over 20 years . I even had labels printed up at one time “Lackawack hill Brewing” so I’m going to use some live edge oak for the stake sides with the name on it .

Need to make some brackets for it and stain and or oil it

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Finished up the “tank” for the 68 . Going to install it tomorrow the leather strap will hold it against the bulkhead of the bed ,just need to make up a bracket mount on the bulkhead . My friend always does a nice job and he won’t take money for small things like this . So I bought lunch for the shop. The fill is where the tap would go and the other is a vent , need to get some 1/4 copper tubing for that. And of course the fuel port is on the bottom it’s not at the lowest point of the keg and the bung is in the keg about about an inch so no crud should get sucked up . The base will be held down by the j bolts going to put a rubber pad under it to stop any squeaking. I stole one of my wife’s yoga mats she won’t notice I hope .

That would be awesome. And I'd like to see that beautiful truck man. Funny it's the same paint code as my C20, since repainted, hmmm. This dog loves oil. Stuff don't work, time ventilated and leaks, don't care. I like the wheels though, and fun to drive

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

The tank is in just need to hook up the gas line to the fuel pump . Had to drill a hole in the bed but it’s got a few natural holes in it anyway. The strap ended up just being a visual thing the j bolts hold it down solidly. And a friend that owns a brewery sold me three Jack Daniels barrels pretty cheap to. So the other one is going back . The JD ones are a little more aged looking and every time I walk by the truck it smells like bourbon. There’s a warning label on them about fire and the fumes . They drilled 2 1&1/4 holes an put in little button vents guess to air them out . I’m going to plug them with oak plugs .

Wow, Tony, that gauge cluster sure looks great.

I installed some spark plug wire holders today from an 80s van on the backs of the heads to go along with the 90s Vortec holders I have on the sides. The wires were just loose back there before, so this tidied things up.

Thank you, same under your hood. TBONE1964 restored that cluster say years ago.

The hubcap / wheel saga has ended. No hubcaps, PO1's, SS dog dish and finally I'm nestled in with Rallys and bigger tires!

Dealer emblem + Neodymium (.5"L x .25"W x .06" thick, 1 magnet: 2lb pull) = my truck show emblem which I can remove whenever.

Finally replaced the heater valve. In the summer I would just clamp it closed. It had been bad as long as I've owned the truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Wife and I took the truck on its first on road spin since purchase. Wife purchased this truck for me for anniversary almost three years ago. It had sat in a shed for 12-13 years. Only went about 6-8 miles but all went pretty well for a first shake down run. No unusual vibrations or noises. Hearing a little valve train noise so an adjustment there is in the future.

Also, last items to get back on the truck are the inner fenders. I got the original from the left hand side sanded down and primed. Scuffing the new one I had to get for the passenger side (of course). Plan on painting them this week and maybe install this weekend.

Then it's off to the shop for an alignment after that and then windshield. Hoping to take the wife to our 28th anniversary dinner in it.

That's a real bummer. Hoping that the gears can be saved, or you just going to go through the whole thing? I'd replace everything, personally.
