SPID help

Looking at a loaded truck but the SPID scares me. Looks like the original VIN was bleached out and a new VIN typed in? Everything matches on the truck as far as I can tell.

Thoughts?

Looks fine to me, although I see what you mean. If they typed it in they sure matched up the font well, though. Any evidence that someone just darkened it up with a fine pen?

Anything else weird about the truck?

Re: SPID help

VERY similar to my '72 K5 that I have no reason to believe isn't original. I would assume the options were printed out before the VIN was assigned, and the vin was stamped later down the line once it was confirmed with the chassis it got. just speculation. For food-for-thought - on my 72 C30 it does look like the VIN and the other info was all printed at once. so there may not be a single right answer here.

looks legit to me.

Re: SPID help

Dont think they could get the spid off to retype the vin without destroying it .

I’ve seen a lot like that. My 68 is the same way. It’s legit.

With a big enough typewriter, they could put the whole glove box door in it.

Looks legit to me too. Lots out there with that look. Looks like a KILLER truck. White/red is an awesome combo!

Agreed, you don’t seem to see quite as many loaded 67-68’s as you do the later years. That’s an excellent spid!

It varies based on final assembly location.

Some plants printed all the information at once; others as you see here.

Re: SPID help

What bugs me the most about it is the order of the options being random. I have not seen any that I know for sure are original that are not in option code alphabetical order.

Re: SPID help

Well, I worked with the seller and was getting shipping arrangements when he ghosted. I guess someone got a nicely optioned truck! Hope it’s someone on here. The wife wasn’t too excited about me buying a vehicle sight unseen anyway.
