Re: Trailing arms for C20

Are they different than a C-10? They are for a coil spring rear end aren't they?

The C20 arms have an additional plate of steel on the top and bottom of the arms to make them stronger for the additional weight capacity of the truck

Exactly right and the aftermarket replacement arms are made for C10s. The vendors will market them as fitting C20s but they don't have the extra plates.
If someone made new arms in the C20 style I'd just buy new!

Re: Trailing arms for C20

If you can't find a good set on C20s, you could just weld plates onto some C10 arms

I thought about that. My thinking however is that not having a good way to cut some plates and not owning a welder, that to farm those jobs out could be costly. Hence why I was hoping to find a good pair of used ones.

Yeah, that cost can add up quick. Good luck on your search!

If it was a couple months away I’d have you taken care of but I’m still driving on that chassis. Try “uncle”

Re: Trailing arms for C20

Since you have been looking so long, I wanted to make a suggestion to call around to your local (nearby states included) auto yards. Most people overlook the 3/4+ ton trucks.

As an aside, beware of rust inside the c20 arms. The plates trap all the dirt/salt and water. You may or may not see the rust that has started between the two halves of the I-beam. You probably also already know this, but the size and weight may make it uneconomical to ship the arms.

Re: Trailing arms for C20

I want to thank everyone who replied. I want to especially thank Don D for hooking me up with exactly what I needed. Best was the fact that he lives not far from me here in Missouri and had to travel to the next town over from me. So I only had to drive about 10 miles total to look at these in person before committing to the sale & no shipping charges Yeah!
This is why this forum is so great. It only took me four months on my WTB ad to find what I needed and these arms are in fantastic shape. This forum has been an immensely helpful resource to me.
