I guess EVERYBODY knew this but me...

SLANT NOSE hood for '69-'72 from LMC. Who's got one & how is it? I see they're $500 and backordered. I tried the search a couple of ways and didn't see a thread about 'em.

https://www.lmctruck.com/1967-72-che...72-custom-hood

SLANT NOSE HOOD FOR '69 -'72.... I thought it was a pretty BIG DEAL, I've had '67-'68's & have two "square fronts" currently.
I like the slant nose much better.... maybe not $1000 better for two of them.... but maybe if they're nicely turned out.

Re: I guess EVERYBODY knew this but me...

I like it. $693 though. About how much I paid for the truck. Money pit.

Interesting, never seen that. That is one of the reasons 68 is my favorite year.

Wish you were closer. I am about pull the one out of my 67 that has a brand new sending unit in it. Probably not good enough for a show truck but for just about anything short of that it would work. Nothing wrong with it, just went with rear mounted tank.

Never saw the slant hood for a 69-70, if it were a good product I could see where it would make those trucks stand out.

Re: I guess EVERYBODY knew this but me...

.

It might look wonky to some folk without the 67-68 grille though.

Re: I guess EVERYBODY knew this but me...

I too had never seen that before. I have seen people doing custom work to make their hood look like that, but not a purchasable custom like that.

I think its cool. The tall flat front of the hoods on the 69-72 is one of my least favorite parts.

Re: I guess EVERYBODY knew this but me...

Sorry guy's,
I didn't mean to start another thread on same topic as Rusty's. I did a search and nothing came up.

I was thinking of making my own but this would save a lot of time depending on fitment.

3757chevy, is the hood on the orange truck in your post from LMC or a one off custom made from two hoods by a GOOD BODYMAN?
Probably wishful thinking to hope that the LMC hood would be good enough to paint and install without a lot of fitting and bodywork.

Re: I guess EVERYBODY knew this but me...

I may be wrong, but I thought that 69-72 GMCs could use the 67-68 hood if some trim was changed. GMC fenders were the same from 68-72. Is this correct?

That picture is something I found and downloaded on the subject back in 2018. It is a picture that someone took in 2009. It is a custom made , but I know no more than that.

This is correct. The top piece of trim on the grill can be swapped with a 67-68 top bar. You also need the 67-68 hood latch, but it's an easy change for the GMC's.
