Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Does anyone have a nice chrome rear bumper with the hardware? Damn things get expensive! I've made a few calls on some trucks hoping to get sometime off work to go pick one up!

I guess the one nice thing about a straight can swap is you could have it all done and perfect without having your driver out of commission.

From what I have read and was told by others, is that there is not a crossover path for water to flow from cylinder head to cylinder head(no water passage through the intake manifold). So the little lines at the front of the heads are the highest spot for steam to get trapped. This trapped steam needs to be able to go somewhere. Stock steam flow is returned to the radiator. On my C10 I did exactly the same as above with no problems.

Its just to let air and steam build up on top of the cylinder head get released out. And on some ls motor like mine it goes threw the throttle body first and help heat the air on the cold days.

Thanks for the response. I wish I would have done that before I put the pump on.

I have about two or three inches in between them. Wanted the space for change of intake.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Well I've been away awhile, but got some exciting news. Picked up a 68 c20 just 20 miles from me. Guy just wanted it gone so i thought i would take a look at it. He had been asking 450 for it, whole truck minus engine and transmission. I got there and the only rust I could see on it was on the rockers, and cab supports. He had started on the body work so I could even see the back of the cab. It was almost spotless! I asked if 400 would do. He told me deal right before he came out with all new cab corners, rockers, and inner rockers! All still in boxes too. Pretty dang good deal Id say. Ive been busy with fertilizing the crops around the area so been super busy.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

Nice lance. Good score. I had to get another cab myself because the white one I got needed a lot if time(& money) to get it right.
You going to use the 68 hood???

And are you going to paint it yourself?

Wow, nice score on the cab. Not your first great deal on this build if I recall.

Good luck moving forward.

I can't decide if I like the 67-68 front end more then the 71-72 front as a 4x4.. What do you think?

I think I'm going to attempt it… There is a body shop two miles north and the guy is a good family friend. Im gonna try to talk him into lending me a little space in his shop.

Re: 72 chevy modern swap

To me the the slant noses are more hot rod than 4x4 but you have a hot rod 4x4 so???

My vote is 71-72. But I also prefer 4 eyes even though I don't have one
