So at budget deadline there is a mad scramble to spend it all so they get the same amount or more next yr. ya, stupid, but it keeps me in work...lol...and money.
been paid for two of the 3 weeks so far. grossed $4200 for the first 2 weeks up there. $3400 for work, and just over $800 for travel time. nice thing they put my travel on a seperate check so i don't pay as much taxes

That's how gov't allotment works down here, too. They scramble to spend surplus money once the final quarter comes up, once the bulk of the year is behind with surplus funds left. What shape was the old roof in? Could be they know a building is only as good as it's roof and, although they closed the school, they want to save the building for other purposes or to sell.

They want to close down the elementary school in the town my mom lives in due to shrinking student body. I remember when they built that school. There are only two jr/sr high schools in that county. I guess the elementary school kids will get used to a long bus ride before jr. high

That's how it works in the private sector too. Management was a bunch of skinflints all year but then at the end of the year if you were coming in under budget they'd tell you to order all kinds of stuff otherwise the budget would get cut next year.

Not so much the truck . I wouldn’t trust trailer tires at that speed . Think at most they are rated for 75mph

I have this random poster in my hallway. A guy that I knew was the singer. He died at 39 of brain cancer. Too bad. He was a nice guy.

bingo!

ST tires are typically rated for 65mph hence reduced trailer towing speed limits in most states..

trailer bearings, brakes, suspension, and couplings are also not designed for high speeds..

load stability and weight distribution, wind and weather, etc. are also major factors far safe towing speed..

see those guys in the ditch all the time, usually the median after going too fast in left lanes..

brought this big fella down through the mountains from Ojai few years ago slow and steady no trouble at all

roof was actually not that bad of shape. with a little maintenance they prob could have got another 7-8 yrs more of life. this is the new roof based in, has been 90% cap sheeted since these pics were taken last week. waiting for some special order scuppers and a new roof hatch to come in before we go back up and finish it.

is actually 3 roofs on this job. you can see the old roof on this one section we hadn't got done yet- is not really that bad of shape, some maintenance and prob could have easily got some more life out of it.

once again, not our trailer either...heh, heh...
as the trailer is insured as commercial, it goes for an annual inspection, which was just last aug, at which time some new Carlisle TrailRated HD tires went on it. the Carlisle's are rated for 81 mph.
sure, we were over the limit, but new tires, 3 weeks out and a burning desire to get home to see my wife, kid and dawgs meant the hay with it...lol

semi restored building from the 1800's in a mining town. you can hike up the mountain behind it and go into a mine tunnel that goes almost a mile down in the mountain. all done by hand and some old steam equipment. they grew miners tough back then... ignore the road sign i managed to get right in the middle of the pic.

Heritage is easy to preserve. It's the buildings that take work

That ranch house reminds me of the couple toll houses I showed a while back

Here is a historical wrought iron fence at a historical house in a historical town

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Raining so I pulled an old Hershey sale box my Dad had tucked away . 72 Ford t bird gran torino rear side markers , 65 mustang bumper guards 70 -74 AMX /Javalin rear side marker also fits Avanti II ,62 ford Galaxy 500 backup light kit . Also in the box was a red plate 55 amp Alternator for my AMX . All NOS need to get an idea of what the ford stuff is worth and a place to sell them .

There was also NOS MB 280SL rotors and calipers still in the box’s . Dad must have bought them when he had the 250 and 280 SLs

Out of curiosity what is the AMC marker light worth? I need some for my 70 Javelin and I've been wondering how much they were going to set me back..

The red markers go for 150 to 200 each. That's for NOS

I'm sure you can find used much cheaper .

AMC and Studebaker parts and cars used to be cheap no longer the case . I have some group 19 parts that are impossible to find nowadays.

I certainly hope I can. But between the peeling plastic chrome and their general fragility I'm not placing any bets.
I do get the group 19 stuff being expensive and hard to find. It wasn't that common back in the day and factory high performance parts always commands a premium.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

^ That's some pretty stupid stuff to do. I worked on a space program years ago where we had bullet-resistant shielding surrounding some REALLY high dollar hardware, and discovered a bullet hole through-and-through in the shipping truck. It obviously happened after delivery, on the return trip. It wouldn't surprise me that some dumb bass would shoot at something, though. With the new tech that locates gun shot sources, hopefully those yahoos get busted, and have to work for the rest of their lives paying for the damage.
