Is the 265 a keeper?
IMO, you should decide what you plan to do with the truck. The 60 came with a 235, 283 or 349 motor so if stock is what you're after then no. Most states now don't allow you to put a motor that is older than then one you took out so you need to be careful there. There are a ton of kits available for a large array of motors. putting a larger motor in that 60 frame can be difficult because of the torsion bars which is one of the reasons I opted to put a 64 frame under my truck.

Then you want to look into Dual Pattern Cam as metioned below.
You can even have them in the I6's.

Re: Good engine for 62 chevy truck?

not original, not a hot rod - i'd stick to 57 or higher 283s personally - I gair-on-teee some 56 chevy bel air resto nut would give you his first born for a '56 265... Personally, unless there's some sentimental reason, I'd sell it to the highest bidder and buy something you want - either a mid-60s small block or a new crater. (I know which one I'd pick - the mid 60's...) 283s are not exactly a dime a dozen anymore, but they are compared to a 265. I'd trade up!

Trying to decide on wether or not to leave it and just supe it up a little or do a transplant. If I do the transplant here's what I want to do the truck. I want to drive it around town and maybe take it to some car shows. I'm not really interested in racing it or creating some super custom. Probably gonna add some updates inside the cab and I'm going to put a tank under the bed.

Brass tacks-- I want to know what y'all think I should put in my truck. Open to any opinion as long as your polite about it.

I would have two ideas. Keep the 283 and put a TBI from affordable fuel injection or transplant a 5.3 and 4L60E with a wiring harness from Larry's Electric.

Thanks Jeff.
