Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
Here are a few pics of the OEM D52 calipers. These are available in two different piston sizes. The JD5/JB5 calipers have a 2 15/16" diameter piston and the JD7/JB7 calipers have a 3 5/32" diameter piston. If you need a E-brake these can be found under the application of rear calipers for the '76-'78 Cadillac Eldorado. The A1 Cardone part numbers for these are 16-4116 and 16-4117. Those are loaded calipers.

Yes these are the brackets you need to use the '76-'78 Eldorado calipers

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
I'm currently working on converting my rear to disc on my '70. Can these brackets also be used when keeping the 6 lug pattern?
Planned on using 1990 K1500 w/ f44 (heavy duty) chassis 6 lug rotors (11.6 dia. and 1.29 thick) and using 71-72 front calipers in the rear. Any foreseen issues I may have? Besides some possible machining... |

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
You can not just randomly change the rotor and still have the rotor and caliper line up. I have yet to find any two factory replacement rotors for different applications be exactly the same and interchangeable. I have no idea what the height is of the rotor you are wanting to use. Then there is the issue that most later model rotors do not have sufficient contact area to accommodate the D52 pads without having them hang over the outside edge.
You know that I do make 2 rear disc brackets for the 6 lug correct? http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=637489 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=494411

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
Right, I do know that. The rotor overall height is 2.6"
My intention is to keep the front brakes the same as the rear, by using the same caliper. They have a larger piston then most and are cheap to replace. I was just wondering if you had a set of brackets that would work for my app? |

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
The Astro/Safari rotors are 3.27" tall. That is a difference of .670. I don't know if a .625" thick spacer would work. It might require a .750" thick spacer machined down to .670". It seems like I tried to use the F44 rotor when I developed my 6 lug kits, but I couldn't get the D52 pads to fit, like I mentioned previously. I would have to go back and look.

Any info that you could give me on that set-up would be greatly appreciated.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets
I didn't have time today to pull a rotor out of the box and again check fitment of the D52 pads. Will try again tomorrow.
