Re: Bowtie468's Extreme '68 BuildPage

I've heard of them before but never checked them out. Have you heard of any issues with alignment? My guess is they use the same suppliers as everyone else for the components? Sanden A/C, Edelbrock water pump, Mavel power steering or something like that? I really like the look of it...will have to find out more

Trey , the m/c is Wilwood with 1" bore and the booster is a 8" dual diaphram . Off hand I can't recall the # of the m/c . If you'd like the part number , just ask and I'll get it for you !

Sure thing ! No secrets here . I picked up an 8" Polishing machine at Northern and purchased the buffing wheels and compound from Eastwood . It's not a bad job to do. Of course that would also depend on the condition of the trim
Being polished ! Also, attach the piece of trim being polished to a piece of wood . You'll be better able to control it and will keep the wheels from pulling it out of your hands or grabbing it which usually ends up bending the trim . I did also order a cutting wheel for stainless ( looks pretty aggressive ) but haven't needed to use it yet . I can't recall the material it's made of at the moment . Do a search on Eastwoods site and you'll see everything I'm referring to . I'll be polishing up my rear window trim before to long and will post pics when it done . Good luck with yours and holler back with any other questions about it .

The aggresive cutting wheel i was referring to in the above post, is a Sisal buff wheel.

Re: Bowtie468's Extreme '68 BuildPage

I was able to spend some time on the truck these last few days. I tackeled the rear glass trim as well as getting it all installed on the cab. Most of the trim was in fairly good shape. Maybe a slight ding here and there. The worst piece had a nasty crease which was caused by a buddy getting a little too anxious to get it removed !

Here a pic of the damaged section.

Next pic was after a short time with the hammer and dolly. Still needs more hammer work to remove the highs and lows. Second pic shows it back straight again. Just need to sand it down some and remove the scratches. the pics that follow will show the progress.

Re: Bowtie468's Extreme '68 BuildPage

I have been lucky enough to be a Beta tester for Carter Hickman's newest software for House of Kolor's Digital Paint Booth. This new version is lightyears ahead of the older 2 versions that I have played with. This version is actually a 3D rendering program where you can change wheels, vehicle height, turn trim and emblems on and off, as well as simply change the color (as long as it is a HOK color ). The coolest thing about the software is that when you change backgrounds, all of the reflections change too. If you spin the truck or raise or lower your veiwing angle you can watch all of the reflections move around on the truck. You really have to see the software in person to truly appreciate all of Carter's hard work that is involved in this. My hat is off to Carter for providing us with some super software for our hobby! This software should be available to everyone very soon, and it is worth every penny!!

I figured that I would help Chris out with a few renderings while I could. For a while there he was unsure about painting the grill white while leaving the rest of the truck black. As you can see, his truck is going to look Killer! Chris, I also made a few animated .gif's of the truck in each background for you. I hope you like them Chris!
