Has anyone tried to dye leather seats?

I picked up some grey leather electric seats that came out of a Ford Taurus. My truck has black carpet, black dash pad and black door panels with red exterior and interior paint. I am thinking about dyeing the seats black. Has anybody had good experience dyeing leather?

Re: Has anyone tried to dye leather seats?

I've used vinyl spray on leather...from ivory to black and with proper prep, works well.

It can be done, but the key to using any dye is "proper preparation". You must be sure that the seats are totally free from any oils. That means thoroughly cleaned and dried several times. If you have access to a compressor you will get better results with a small paint gun with low pressure.

Great post and this is totally correct...it's all in the prep.

Plus, follow the die/spray manufaturers directions to the letter!

Worked for me with cheapie spray because of prep and research.
