Eastwood buffing kit for billet wheels??

I am going to try acid on my billet wheels per advice from Jmdero on here but if that does not work would something like this work for me? Have all this oxidation crap on my wheels and nothig seems to get it off.

El Campo, On my billet wheels for my Harley I used some 1000 grit sandpaper then I used 1500. Then I buffed them out madeem look brand new. The Eastwood stuff will work but it's messy

Wish that I had billet wheels on my Harley! Chrome is peeling on mine Hmm never thought of sandpaper. They are 20x10, seems like a lot of sanding! Oh well its just time!

0000 Steel wool with a little dish detergent does the trick also and then use this product step one aluminum deoxidizer and then the purple polish. I have a set of Weld wheels and this is all I will use on them. If you look on the internet for an item called a "Razor buff", you will find several outlets that sell them. The razor buffs come in a couple different sizes and if you look at the different course materials in a 3" buff diameter, then you will find what you need. You will also need a die grinder (electric or air) and a tapered spindle to mount the buff onto. I purchased a cheap air grinder form one of those tool sales that show up at most swap meets and it works great for this. I use the yellow buff to cut anything that is really corroded and the white buffs for the next two steps. Use wet-n-dry sandpaper to get your metal to a near smooth finish (use WD-40 as a lubricant) then start by using a dark polish material to cut the metal to a shine and then use a green to polish and the white to give it a final color polish. Use a setail spray to clean the metal after a polish evolution and then hand polish with something like mothers to clean the final residue out of the metal. I also use a metal sealer to keep the soap and dirty water from collecting in the metal afterwards. I use a Wizard's product for my wheels.

Never put to much pressure on your polishing pad. Try it out by practicing on your fingernail. Put the pad on it and run it back and forth until your you understand what you want.

Dude I just did my other set last night. These I used a mothers cone with my drill. If you couldn't find the wire wheel cleaner use chrome cleaner. It will work as well.

Do it man!! I know it's scary but I do this for a Living man it will work. If the finish is really bad you can get some rouse and buff them out but try this first.

Juan - do you use the Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish, or the Billet polish? If you have never used the Billet version, try it .. it's so much better than the regular MMAlu stuff. .. Billet wheels really come up to what they should be.

1500, 2000, 2500, then 3000 paper then ..

I used a loose sewn round wheel on a Milwaukee 18V drill (crazy powerful) for the final buff. Man, it really comes out great.

I have that Prescision Point cone too and it gets them really good .. but I promise, try the Billet stuff. I have used Mothers for years and the billet version is so much better. I got my loose wheel from Home Depot. It comes in a pack with another (more firm) cone shaped polishing wheel too. It's a Ryobi kit with polishing compounds and stuff, about $15 .. but the loose sewn 'ball' wheel alone is worth $15. Very well made stuff and fits nicely (no spin shank) in a 3/8" drill. I used it when my Heritage wheel got damaged and it's the only stuff I found that would bring a billet wheel back to that factory fresh shine.

The wheel you see in the picture is a new wheel, .. but my best friend's little boy threw a 4 way lug wrench in the box -- right on top of the wheel -- as I was showing it to him. Yeah, .. never mounted on a tire, these are the wheels Eric had for sale. I opened the box, pulled back the plastic and cardboard and BLAM! Man, it danced all over this wheel. I counted 14 different places where it damaged the billet. I was SICK.

This wheel has been sanded with 800 grit paper and worked all the spots out, gradually getting finer and finer with the paper. I'm tellin ya man .. I was sick. It looked like a Calico cat for a while. Deep, dull spots all over it. I have about 30hrs in this one wheel but I am 100% convinced the Mothers Billet polish and this polishing wheel kit saved it. I know you do this stuff every day and you know what you're doing .. just saying. If you haven't .. I thought I'd mention it. Hope it helps you or someone else.

The Billet polish is hard to find because they are discontinuing it. Summit still sells it and PepBoys (if you have them in Cali) had about 2-3 cans of it the last time I was there.
