Picked up the parts this morning from the media blaster, amazing what is hiding under all them layers of paint and bondo

Overall I think the panels are in great shape, some will need more work than others but hey its a 40 year old truck. Pix soon on that note !

Also still trying to decide what wheels to go with, and I feel I should get them now for my suspension & body mock up. I have been working with Perry at PTS, what a great guy!

Im leaning towards these Boyd Smoothies

What do you guys think

Yeah some areas will need some work, esp one of the fenders, on the fence about patch panels or repairing it.

Just heard back about my camel back heads from my 327, previous rebuild not too bad, not too great, looks like is still has the original valve seats for leaded gas? Weird, so to replace the seats with hardened and run new valve guides and seals I'm looking at about 400 bux. Can you say new aluminum heads? I can AAAALLLLLUUUMMMMMINUMM

However he said they should seal just fine and run for the time being. So they are going on the engine for the time being

Just got word back from Nate @ Porterbuilt, my parts are in production now, I did decide to order up the trans and trailing arm x members as well. Nice matched set up.

Now I need to figure out what color to paint this damn thing, so I can decide what to do with the PB products, powder black? or some other complimenting color with the paint scheme.

Looks like a really nice build! On the pb stuff, can't go wrong with black but a silver vein is a cool compliment....all depends on your overall paint scheme. I went with hammered black with hammered silver on one of my builds for my frame. Came out looking awesome.

I was also thinking of a silver "vein" with my drop spindles etc all silver as well, and then engine black with silver trans etc. BUT, not sure on color yet

Finished up all the epoxy priming tonight, and got some bad news too, looks like I need to get two new bed sides, the work needed and money for patch panels may be too much vs just buying some new ones, unfortunately I already had these media blasted and epoxy primed

Check out the pix

These are all the right bed side, the biggest problem is the rust on the inner wheel well and outer body line lip. Looks like I will need to sell them to recoup my losses.

I have a repop bed that I bought for my truck...just be aware...the repop besides seem to have thinner metal....my wife proved that to me by dinging the side with her door

overall fitment seems to be real nice....if ya hvae good welding skills, buy some nice LWB bedsides and cut them down...we did that on our 71 Super project (see sig for thread) and they fit awesome!!!

I can have repops shipped to my shop for free, I think I am going to take a look at them at least, what do you think I can charge for these existing sides? Like I said, the right amount of work they will be just fine, I just don't think that's me.

New sides will cost ya $900...or around that.....these used ones needing help could probably go for $200-$250 for both...JMHO....

BTW...I had issues getting my tail lights to fit in the repops too....

I can get a hold of Goodmark repop sides for 550 plus tax. Hmm, good to know about the tail light openings, best thing about my local vendor, I can send it right back no shipping charges, so I think I will test em out, see what I think, worse case, spend some loot and fix these ones? I'm pretty dissapointed, they looked great when I got the truck, but had some cover up on em.

Picked up my heads today, machine shop says they are good to go, he even replaced my valve seals with some nice teflon coated ones.

Heads torn down inspected pressure tested and new valve seals all for 58.00 bux, how can you beat that?

Had someone stop in today and give me an estimate on welding and fab time on the newly blasted and primed fenders, wasn't the news I wanted to hear, so now I am on the fence about spending more money fixing these ones or just getting new ones? Sound familiar? Yeah same with the bed sides. I know this build is going to cost money, but unless I can justify putting a ton of money into a used rusted part I would rather just cut my losses and buy some repops, as long as they fit.

Any of you used any repop fenders or bed sides? Do they have that minor crease on the wheel arches ?
