Flowmasters

I just got my new exhaust on and o boy is it nice. For any people out there considering getting flowmasters it is well worth it. I used 2" 40 series flowmasters and went all the way back an exited behind the wheels. And it is not to loud in the cab but it sounds sweet outside of the cab.

O yea, when I was doing it I found that the heat riser was stuck shut. So it is permanently open now. So if you think you truck is running a little sh**y and the gas mileage sucks be sure to check out the hear riser.

Cool! I've got some 40's sitting in the cab just waiting to be installed someday. Glad to hear you like them. I got the 2.5 in/out and looking to just dump in front of the axle. I like it loud - the wife won't want to ride as often then...

I'm also a new fan of the Flowmasters. Just put the Delta 50 series on mine, 2 1/2" and dumped right before the rear axle, also installed some Hooker Comp headers. A big improvement over exhaust manifolds, 24" glasspacks and 2" exhaust. This thing can breathe now!

Talking

I'm running 40 series flowmasters on my truck too. The system is 2.5", coming off of a set of headers. they end above and ahead of my rear axle. I ran turndowns for about 6 months on it. It sounded OK, but it wasn't as loud as i wanted. One day, i took off the turndowns to see what it would sound like. It made a huge difference! It made it deeper, throaty, and a lot louder . Now i can hear the exhaust when i'm going down the highway at 65, but i think thats a good thing. Plus, people turn and look at the truck if i give it a little gas when im driving it around .

The heat riser is located on the driver's side exhaust manifold. Actually its on what I guess would be called the collector. It should open once the motor has reached optimum temperature most don't causing the exhaust from that side of the motor to go through the carb and through the intake back out the passenger side exhaust manifold. My truck seemed to run fine but now that it is open I have probably 30% more horsepower. And you can feel it in the seat.

Long live the non-delta 40 series!!

Yellow72custom,

I did the same thing as you. They (dual 40 series 2.5") were turned down before the rear axle and it sounded like a new camaro or mustang with pipes. Took those darn turndowns off, and it was a night and day difference in sound!! It echoes around alot under the bed, increasing the volume ALOT!!

I'm in love.....!

Not to upset anyone here, but --- Long live quiet power! I recently heard a 396 Chevelle with Flowmaster 70 series mufflers and resonators and it sounded perfect. It had that great Flowmaster sound without the noise that atttacts police officers.

I agree with Mike I like a suttle quite sound from a far such as the police men driving by, but when I stomp it I like to hear it.
