Vintage Gas Stations, Signs, Etc

I've always been interested in old gas stations, pumps and gas and oil memorabilia. The prices are crazy on that stuff. My Grandfather and Uncle used to own a Skelly station in the 60s and then my Grandfather ran a different Skelly station when I was a kid. I have a liking to that Skelly stuff and someday I will make a little display with an actual building etc. I enjoy seeing the old structures when we travel. They sure are dwindling though. Do you guys have a certain brand you prefer?

We were checking out an old farm to buy and I saw this fuel tank by a barn and thought it was neat. The brick building is the original Sioux Steel building in Sioux City Iowa. I thought it would be a cool place to stage some photo shoots. It might even be there now. The gas station is part of the Murdo Automobile Museum in Murdo South Dakota. If you ever get out that way I highly recommend you stop in and check it out.

Re: Vintage Gas Stations, Signs, Etc

That old gas stuff is cool..
I went thru town last week and to my dismay the old gas station my Dad worked at as a kid was a pile of rubble...so I know it dates back as early as late 30s early 40s...
they tore it down to make a parking lot

Re: Vintage Gas Stations, Signs, Etc

This Diamond T truck sign was in one of their buildings. The gas station signs were outside of Falls City South Dakota. I'm currently compiling some materials to make my own. Last, I had a small sign made up to hang in the garage.
