1967 c10 steering box

My frame doesn't have the dimple on it. Has anyone found a steering box that will work? Thanks

There are other boxes that will bolt up with spacers but they have bad reviews and create steering issues... If you can weld, or have access to a welding shop, you can add the "dimple".. Locate where you want the dimple.. Make "T" shaped cut in the frame. Locate the top "cross bar" of the cut right in the area where the upright and horizontal meet. Make the vertical part of the cut only about 2 - 2 1/2 inches tall. Using a hammer bent the area of the frame inward about 1/2 5/8 inches inward.. Weld up the gap, grind the weld to smooth it out and you're done. I've used this procedure on numerous '67 frames without any "follow-up" issues..

Re: 1967 c10 steering box

I recently installed power steering on my 67 with a non-dimpled frame. I rolled the dice and purchased a CPP steering gear that did not require any frame modification. It has somewhat mixed reviews but I crossed my fingers and dove in.
Been about 2 months and 300-400 miles so far.
Had to learn how to drive the truck all over again as it cut at least one full turn off the steering lock to lock and makes the truck more enjoyable to drive.

It's been a long time, we marked the area with a scroll, heated it red hot hot and hit with a ball pin hammer to make the dimple used a stock 72 power steering box from a parts truck, along with the spindles, upper and lower a-frames, center link to convert to front disk brakes and power.
