i bought the tank from GMC paul, got the straps made and sending unit from a salvage yard....Tank holds over 20 gallons..22 i thhink..i also have a smaller 12 gallon tank that is the depth of the frame rails if someone wants it,would be good for a lowered truck that doesnt get driven a whole lot...or if you dont mind fillin it all the time...

AFTER ROLLING ABOUT 80 YARDS, I STOPPED WITH THE TRUCK UPSIDE DOWN WITH MY HEAD PINNED TO THE GROUND. IT STOPPED IN A LITTLE DEPRESSION IN THE GROUND, & EVERYTHING WAS FROZEN(IT WAS DEC. 23rd IN MICHIGAN). THE BEHIND THE SEAT TANK WAS JUST FILLED. IT SPLIT, & ALL OF THE GAS DUMPED OUT OVER ME, & ALMOST DROWED ME IN GASOLINE, AS MY HEAD WAS PINNED TO THE GROUND. I WAS PINNED IN THE WRECKAGE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO PONDER THE PLACEMENT OF SUCH A FUEL TANK. THE ONLY REASON IT DIDN'T CATCH FIRE WAS MY BATTERY WAS THROWN OUT DURING ONE OF THE ROLLS. LUCKY ME-- I GOT OUT OF IT WITH A BROKEN BACK, 14 BROKEN RIBS, A BROKEN COLLAR BONE & ABOUT 300 STITCHES ON MY MELLON. SO YA .... IT IS KINDA A SAFETY THING. I CONSIDER THESE TANKS A BIG BOMB BEHIND THE SEAT ALSO. THE REASON YOU DON'T HERE ABOUT ALOT OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THEM IS THAT MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO EXPERIANCED PROBLEMS WITH THEM ARE DEAD. JOHN

As if this weren't reason enough, smelling fuel is not good for you either! I am going to do the swap for the above reason and that I once had a 67 (years ago) and it leaked fumes into the truck regularly and I need all the brain cells that survived college so Blazer tank here I come. I may even fab one up myself. I have access to a TIG welder and I can buy the SS, I plan to run an LT1 and need the intank pump.

How many gallons does that hold? Got any more pictures of it.

Ok I am going to put some sort of a fuel tank in the back of my 70 longbed but still am unsure of a few things. So any 73-87 blazer tank will work with my mechanical fuel pump and all that? And about how low will one hang?

$25! good score I'd say that is the way to go!

I tried a cell in the bed and now I have it under the bed.
Now I'm looking for fuel sensor ideas for plastic cells?

I got my fuel sensor from Speedway. If you're using the factory gauge I believe you need the 90 ohm model. GM uses 90 ohm sensors. The swing arm is very long and you need to cut it to the correct length for your fuel cell and you'll need to use a hole saw to mount it. If you have gas in your tank you might want to empty is for this as plastic shavings aren't really good for you fuel system (duh).

I have a similar cell mounted and I have a SW fuel gauge. Works well. You'll have to run a ground wire to the body or frame for it to work though.

Hi Lock.. I have the ECC tank and hitch forr my truck in the basement ready to install next spring. What are you going to do for a gas tank filler? Maybe by now you have it done and could post some pics of what you have for that. I also notice you have a Super Track bar , did you get that from ECE as well? What ,if any, suspension plans do you have for the truck. I'm planning a 2 1/2 drop spindle with a 1" front dropped coil and 5 coil drop in the rear with the Super Track bar & shock relocaters.

My only problem with installing a fuel cell between the frame rails is... Where the heck do we store the spare tire so it's not in the way and messing up a otherwise neat an clean looking truck?

here's what I did for a gas tank. One thing I alway noted about the old trucks was that the cabs always smell like gasoline.

I agree. I had a 55 chevy truck with tank behind seat, lotsa fumes, not to mention the sloshing noise every time you take a corner or brake, or accelerate, or close the door, or turn up the radio, or reach for the ignition.. well I guess you get the idea.
