Thanks man. I'm trying my hardest with my budget and knowledge. I've learned that patience is the biggest thing when it comes to doing one of these trucks right. A lot of people want to throw it together to drive it but I would rather do it right the first time and not have to worry about the little things down the road

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane

I'm in the it's never finished camp.
I would'nt know what to do with myself if I did'nt have a project to work on.
I know that your situation is totaly different because you are in a family of gearheads and there is always something to work on, you are a lucky guy in that respect.
Once the truck is finished you should try and talk your dad into letting you inherit the '70 Camaro early and build it, because man that is a sweet car.

Thanks man. I would absolutely love to restore the 70 next but the problem is my Dad is absolutely in love with that thing. I just did a mild restoration on it a few months ago, rebuilt the carb, had the hood and trunk lid put in black epoxy primer, new carpet, new upholstery on the drivers seat (the rest of the upholstery is original and perfect), new door panels, new package tray, and new tires. It's so original and nice that it doesn't really need a restoration until it can be kept in a garage. Once I finish my truck I'm gonna be working on my camaro. 1968 Original ss396 Big Block AC California car. That was my graduation present from my parents and I've already started collecting parts

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane

Intro is backed up 6-8 weeks so my wheels won't be here till December probably. My dad picked these up for me from the tire store today. Not really progress but it got me excited so I figured I'd share

Did you get the BB? It should fit just fine in there.

Very nice project Andrew!

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane

Well the thing is my dad has about 4 big blocks and he just got another so he told me when the time comes and I am ready for it then it's mine. I want to get this thing on the road before I make it an even greater project. I keep setting goals for myself but I would really like to take it to the Good Guys show in Charlotte next year. Also this is all coming out of my pocket, every expense. So that makes it a lot harder to make progress when I make very little money and I live on my own. But she's getting there, slowly but surely

You and me both, the wheels should be here late November early December so after that then I'll order my rearend which will take about 2-3 weeks and then the back will be rolling. As for the front, I have no idea what I'm gonna do for spindles. There are quite a few people looking for a set for me but nothing has come up yet. I'll probably rock some beater wheels up front just to get it to the painter next and then once she's painted I'll order my front wheels and worry abut that end

They don't sell just the pins for the style spindle I need so I'd have to buy an entire set just to cut them apart

Sweet project, I am jealous of all the Cup/Nationwide parts!

I wanted to share what I did on my rear end. Mine is a 60" centered floater. Of course it had 5/8" studs, like I'm sure yours does. So I knew that; 1. It was a bit narrower than a stock truck rear end... and 2. The studs are too big to work with a normal wheel.

Soooo, I bought some TransDapt bolt-on wheel spacers, each are 1.25" thick. I had a machine shop open up the mounting holes a little so the 5/8" studs would fit through and so I could get a 1" socket on the lug nuts. I also had them change the taper in the bottom of the hole to match the large lug nuts. So That puts my rear end at 62-1/2" wide, so 3/8" wider than stock. AND they have the correct size studs sticking out of them to run a normal wheel.

Hope that helps! Keep up the good work!

Great info, thank you. I'm sure I could've gotten really close on the width of the rear just by punching numbers but I'd rather get the wheels here and stick them up in the hole and just measure face to face. Considering the 10" wide wheels with 4" of BS and I want them right out on the bedsides I'd rather know it's gonna be perfect. As for the studs, I have a few options to choose from so I will decide that when the wheels get here.

You should know I'm not running Howe spindles on this thing. It's a heavy old truck, not a super late model. I'm not sure how it would do with hollow pins from a Howe spindle so we went with a beefier spindle. The ones that are on it are Stock Car Products and they have a solid pin, mainly cup and nationwide runs them. And they don't sell just pins
