Thanks, but I think we'll both go up the stairs together to be perfect tin men.

Now we continue with the painting, first prime everything with 2K epoxy, smooth dents with Bondo and sand everything with abrasive fleece.

I have to be Eagle Eyed.

Part of my training 30-40 years ago. Observation.

That caravan is lovely too.

I guess not for sale??

I have a friend looking for something interesting.

I built one for my 1963 Taunus Transit and then my 66 C10

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road

I think so, not for sale, he bought it for his wife. How beautiful the transit with caravan is, not only do you have sharp eyes, you also have good hands, great work

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road

Now the cabin has been painted red on the inside. I wasn't satisfied, the paint was rough and the spray gun sprayed water at the end, my separator was too small and it was already too cold. Wet sand everything again and start all over again, better water separator and more heat

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road

Now it's time, the exterior color, it's going to be pebble grey, I've seen the color on another C10 and the owner was kind enough to tell me the colour, other parts have been painted black

Mask the doors neatly, I like the look of them, slight dust inclusions, will later be sanded wet and then polished. My paint Shop. The Cab prepared.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road

Thank you very much, I was able to retire in 2020 and bought this C10 in the summer of 2020 to do what I enjoy. I was also able to gain initial experience with my 68er Mustang, but it didn't have to be painted and welded.
The welding work was my first time, I had welding skills, but not for that :-) painting is also my first time, it can definitely be done better, but it's okay, I've learned a lot here from the forum, you guys Great, thanks for that.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road

Now it's the turn of the frame, the engine and the gearbox had to leave their place, as did the exhaust, the axles stayed in place for the time being, I wanted to clean the whole thing in a washing area. Roughly pre-cleaned for the first time.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road

The frame has been cleaned and I have an unpleasant surprise with the crack in the frame, there were still some, more on that later. Rear axle removed, it's an 8.5 inch, 10 bolt axle, from a '76 Pontiac, my C10 runs on a 5x4.75 bolt circle, I could identify that with the rear axle code 2.41:1 with Positrack, geared quite long, strange axis.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road

Removed the '62 front axle, it was still welded to the frame, why? The truck probably had a bad accident and the frame was cut open, straightened and welded again. I reopened the crack, the metal was a good 3mm on top of each other, with a 20t hydraulic ram, I drilled and welded holes in the crack, ground the crack into a V shape and step welded it, for stability, another plate was placed behind it and spot welded, that should hold

Sorry if I wrote something wrong, English isn't my strong point, but I'm trying. What are they referring to?
