Man, that's almost too sexy to cover up with a bed. Maybe put a plexiglass floor in the bed so you can still see it.

Re: QA1 install on my Sons Truck. (Pics)

Looks great-Hopefully you didn’t do what I did and hit the front truck arm heim joint bolts with an impact to get to the 140ftlb torque rating. Unbeknownst to me until I tried to take it back apart, but the bolts froze in the spacers as it appeared the spacers warped slightly. PITA to get it all apart but QA1 was awesome about replacing them.

Thanks, Everything has Anti Seize and Torqued to Spec.
Can’t wait to get started on the Front. I have the same set up on my truck with exception of the trailing arms (I already had solid ones). It’s the biggest and best up grade I’ve ever made. Unbelievable ride and lots of adjustments. He also went with the dual control shocks so he can adjust both compression and rebound
Very nice product , Worth event penny. Everything front and rear ~$4500

Looks great. I am going to install the same on my step side. When do you plan on doing the front?

I’ve done the front on my own truck if you have questions. Note. The upper ball joint does not ride like that. The pic was before any adjustments were made

That's awesome. What spring rates did you go with front and back.

750 Front. 200 Rear. This is what QA recommend. Nice thing is , you can change springs pretty easily. I’m very happy with what I have now

May be a bit of an odd question but what is the least amount of drop that you could use this kit at? Do you normally use dropped spindles with the kit? I am looking for a kit for my 72, but I want to run a big tire up front and not a lot of drop.

Drop spindles are NOT required. My truck sets low but I can raise it ~ 3 inches with adjusting the springs. Will work on a totally stock set up as I read it

Thank you sir. I have been between this, Ridetech, or NoLimit. Best pricing through Summit or did you find it somewhere else?

I was fortunate enough to have a friend at a shop that’s a dealer for QA and he let me have his price and no shipping So I got a Hell of a deal. That being said
Before my friend offered this deal I was looking at Summit and Speedway Motors for the best prices

Couple more quick questions:

Could the c notch be omitted if a new upper shock mount was fabricated?

How do you plan to route the exhaust?

Man, that looks great! I have been looking at the qa1 stuff myself for a while, I have the ECE 4/6 static drop with their drop spindles and I'm wondering if they will work with the qa1 or not. What spindles are you running on yours or your sons' truck?

You like the setup on yours I take it? I'd like to pull the trigger while summit has it on sale!! lol

Thanks,

Thanks,
He’s using Willwood spindles that work with the QA stuff. QA says you need to use 73 up spindles or ream to fit your upper ball joint which is what I did on my truck.
Also beware if your running 15” tires with tire height of 27” or less you’ll only have ~ 2 1/2 “ clearance from shock bracket to the Ground. That’s the only thing I didn’t like. I bought new wheels and tires that should be here in a week or two
Going from 15/60s to 20/45 to gain some clearance. I have a set of Stock 73 spindles that will add back the 2 1/2 if I need them

Just curious, what are the advantages that you noticed with using the wildwood drop spindles over, say CPP drop spindles? Just bought the front kit .

Just an FYI but Summit has a rebate on these kits (at least the front kit) right now that are over $200 off their normal price , which you can add the Jegs code for an extra $100 off. Best price anywhere by far. And they are even in stock (I waited over 2 months for my rear kit when I bought it this past summer).

Re: QA1 install on my Sons Truck. (Pics)

I went with the QA1 front set-up on our 70 K5 because it would come close to stock ride height, supposed to be just one inch lower. It Will be a while before I drive it. We were recommended the 750 lb springs. We’re running a stock steel rim with 235/75R15 tires.

Not sure what were gonna do for the rear. I like the QA1, but I don’t want to lower the rear more than 1” to match the front.

Your going to love the difference. You don’t have to Go Low to go QA1 that’s the nice part.

Re: QA1 install on my Sons Truck. (Pics)

This thread has quite a bit of attention so I wanted to offer a warning for other QA1 owners.

I recently drove over some rough road (steep downhill with undulating surface) and I had a surprise when the lower control arm hit the road. Needless to say it upset the truck in the middle of a corner and it was violent enough for my passenger to comment. The damage is cosmetic, but did expose that the lowest point of the suspension is the shock itself. It took a chunk out of the eyelet and scraped the mounting bars/bracket.

My takeaway is that you really need to run a taller tire than I have (27"), and be very aware of the road. If I had been driving more spiritedly, I could have lost control of the truck.
