Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

found a knock off holley 302-2 pan kit for the motor. trying to stock pile some stuff together for now.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/402091342885

also, going with this 21 circuit rewire kit off amazon. basically a knock off of the EZ wire kit. i know, its not a big name brand, but im on a budget here and hope it works out

The wiring kit may be a little more work but it shouldn't be that hard to get sorted out if you have the old one to lay out and duplicate.

Let us know how it works out.

Hey Kevin, were you running a York
motor mounted compressor for your suspension?

i had one on yes, with the small block. but i decided not to run it with the ls swap. i ran it a few times and it pumped super fast...but for some reason oil would spill out of the filter if i remember correctly. i think it might be in the build somewhere...i dont remember. its been about 4 or 5 years i think.

i still have it if ya want it, im gonna to start cleaning stuff up around here and trashing whatever doesnt sell. yard starting to look like sanford and son

no updates yet, been putting a little money in my avalanche but about to get started on the suburban again soon hopefully. been doing some remodeling in my house also, floor guy is supposed to come this week. either way I have no choice to at least get my motor in by October, as the city now all of a sudden wants my neighborhood (non HOA by the way) to not have any "junk vehicles" unless they are behind a fence. soooo, had to spend 400 to make a fence around my suburban, and have until October to get rid of the donor vehicle.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

finally a little progress....somewhat. drove my donor truck in the driveway and started the teardown. I been picking at it since Sunday but I'm hoping to have the drive train out by next week. meanwhile, after pulling the intake... this motor looks filthy

Sounds good!

It all takes time, especially if you are still working. I started on a new project too and have had some interruptions. Just keep plugging away at it a little bit at a time and before you know it you will be driving it.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

huge setback with this motor...was draining the oil to get it on the stand and a ton of milkshake came out....kind of down to 2 options now. called my buddy where I got it from and he said he has another 2001 tahoe I could get. but I have to sell what I have and whatever I get would go to him for the other truck. other option would be to pull the heads and send them to get rebuilt and/or pressure tested for cracks or warps.

Well that sucks. Maybe it will be something simple like a gasket or "O" ring somewhere. I know that isn't really simple either but maybe you won't have to pull the whole thing....

UHGGGGGGG!!!! Man that just blows. .
Personally I would probably pull the heads and have them checked then I would know what kind of shape the cylinders are in. And of course I wouldn't be able to NOT pull the oil pan and inspect the oil pump. The evil demon "Project Creep" has arisen again.

haha yup. well, I would've pulled the heads over the weekend but ima kind of see how the sale on it goes. if I didn't have the other truck as my other option I would dive deeper into this one.

I started of the frame clean up to keep me busy

Damn, I can feel the disheartenment(if that’s even a word) in this picture.it’s a bummer but at least you have options and can get it sorted.

ya having no luck selling this yet though. I don't have Facebook so I posted on Craigslist, 5 miles, and offer up...no luck yet. I'm getting the front frame painted now along with the crossmember but that will be done by the weekend.

Looking good. My project is kind of in the same place right now. It would be nice if they went back together as fast as they came apart

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

some of my pics don't want to upload....but anyways. got the crossmember sanded down and painted up and back on. 60 bucks in new grade 8 hardware

not sure which route I want to go down now, haven't had any bites on my donor truck so my motor issue is still at a stand still.
