Wow.
Yeah I could not find them used around here.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Had a capacitor go bad on my ac unit this afternoon. Thankfully my parents neighbor is a retired hvac guy and keeps spare parts. So I put in a temporary fix that should get me through until the new dual run capacitor shows up. This was my thermostat just a minute ago, a cozy 83 degrees in here right now.

That looks like it would be a total PITA. But it sure looks way better.

I have to replace the weather stripping on my bug. After decades of sitting in the desert it's a crispy critter. It's a simple car but I'll probably end up breaking some glass. I've done it before.

Thought I lost 1st in my chevelle today . Didnt feel right and sure enough at the light I let the clutch out and nothing no grinding so I Shifted to second and started off. Got it home jacked it up and got under the car and found the 1-2 shift arm about to fall off . Took the bolt out the arm and post wernt warn so I cleaned it up put lock tight on it . Torqued it down and everything works great now . I know I put locktight on them and the lockwasher when I put it back together I resealed the unit

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I guess no grinding was a good sign. I bet you were happy to find the loose linkage.

I just had the same sort of thing happen with my '72 K2500. It's got a TH350. I shifted it to neutral to move it forward. I moved it and when I went to put it back in park the shift lever was all limp. The rod slipped out at the column. That column has been in there for years and the truck hasn't been driven in a while. Maybe we have gremlins

I wouldn't say gremlins. Just old cars. And old cars are like old lady's. They're fussy and they're going to mess with you once in a while.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Gremlin, ghost, or something in my case. The shift rod comes loose all by itself just sitting there? I've seen a lot owning old cars, including shift & clutch linkage "idiosyncrasies" and this is strange.

Getting ready to smoke some ribs and chicken . But Talk about inflation last year in fall I bought a Smokey mountain 22 inch demo at 50% off . With a crap load of accessories. The sticker on the smoker 399.99 which is crazy in my opinion but a new one is 549.99 . 150 bucks

I forget what I paid for my Smokey Mountain. I think it was 3 or 400 bucks and that was 20 years ago. Weber's aint cheap. My Weber Summit grille was about $1900 if I remember correctly. But they last forever. My 22 inch kettle is from the 70's.

I haven't used that smoker in a while. I cheat and use my electric smoker.

This is how much I use the Smokey Mountain. It's behind the surfboards in the pic.

Today I changed the battery in the 2015 Corvette. I took one look at it and called AAA. It's just a battery but this one is way too complicated for me and I didn't want to mess it up.

They do a good job on small smoke days . When I’m doing pulled pork and turkeys the big boy gets rolled out .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I've got a Weber stand-up charcoal smoker I've had for years. I doubt that was even $100. I think the most I've spent on a grille is $150-ish. Oh yeah, I did buy the one gas grille at Sears once. That taught me I prefer the real thing.

I do too. I've been disappointed with cheap grills in the past. They just don't last. Even if something breaks on a Weber you can get parts and fix it.

Reminds me of my dad. Every year or so he would buy a cheap little Hibachi for just a few bucks.

My father loved to eat. He would eat anything, he didn't seem to care what it tasted like. I guess it was a throwback to him growing up poor in the depression. So burgers and cheap hot dogs were pretty much his idea of BBQ. Ketchup and liquid smoke were the sauce.

As a kid that was all I knew. And to tell you the truth it wasn't all that bad. I looked forward to his barbecues. He could do a lot with very little.

I look at all the barbecue doo dads that I have and wonder what he could have done with them.

Eh. Probably burgers and cheap hot dogs.

My dad liked to jazz up the burgers and I always just wanted it plain. Now I'd like to try his way. I remember onions in the burger and either BBQ sauce or worcestershire worked into it.

I'm too cheap to buy the grille covers. They cost half as much as the dang grille! I keep looking at my grilling area pondering some sort of roof structure over it. Just enough to keep the rain off.

I like a plain burger myself. Some of these newfangled fancy pants burgers aren't what they're hyped up to be. Just give me a normal burger. Chili and cheese are the exceptions. Onions are a must.

The same with beer. I don't need peaches or some other weird fruit in it. A Budweiser and a cheeseburger is just fine with a side of fries (I think my cholesterol level just went up).

I drink Worcestershire sauce out of the bottle. It grosses my wife out which makes it even better.

I drink hot sauce too. Forget the chips. I'll take it straight. I love that stuff.

I went to the junk yard this morning. About a mile from there it began to lightly rain but I continued. I got out of the truck and rain came down pretty hard so I just sat around chatting with the owners until it stopped. I ventured out on the yard and struck out on all that I went after. As I looked up the heavy rain clouds were building again so I made the trek back to the office. A quick word there, then I made it to my truck just as the strong wind and really hard rain began. I mean the bottom fell out that time! Good time to be leaving.

It's as fancy as it get's for my burgers (unless I make Swiss mushroom bacon burgers). I use that mustard, raw onion, lettuce, tomato, and black pepper it down. at parties I just make rounds past the grille every now and them for a quickie burger (or woof burger). Those are made by putting a burger on the bottom half (or top... ya drunk?), then mustard, other half of bun goes on and wuddaya waitin' fer? That burger ain't gown yit!

That was a good way to waste a day. I could do worse. we got a hard rain last evening and today is blue crisp clear for being hot. Maybe I should go to my local junk yard if I don't get into anything good here

Got a new windshield for the Jeep today. My wife got in a fight with a rock on the road and the rock won. The windshield was pretty cracked up.

So now it's nice and purty again and I didn't even have to clean off the dead bugs.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Piled up some logs at my friends farm . Have to drag about 20 more out like this hard to judge in the picture but they are about 14’ long some are longer. Going to buck and split where they lay next week got to red of moving logs two times prior to splitting .

I hear that. And you have the loader set-up on the trailer to make doing it that way easier. Nice to have that option when working it where it lays isn't an option.

This gal had her place logged a couple/few years ago and all the tops are laying. I'm going to be gathering all I can of that.

I'm working on her bedroom ceiling. Years ago her dad put paneling and 4x4s up to hold the saggy plaster up. She didn't want to get into tearing all that out, so I ran bolts up through the 4x4s at the ceiling joists, screwed firring strips up to same, and put 3/8" beaded wood paneling up. Then trimmed the 4x4s with 1x and used 1/4 round around the ceiling. Yesterday I made fake 1/2 beams at either end. The 1x6 all the way around was there from the prior work. I also moved the light to center between beams. It was centered in the room and the center beam was crowded to it.

Ready for caulk & final paint

Yumm! 5 quarts of home made Vanilla ice cream in the White Mountain Ice Cream Freezer....

The local historical society is having their yearly pot luck dinner today. I always supply the home made ice cream for it. I hope there is some left to bring home.

I have to make another batch for our family get-together Sunday, so I think I will get plenty....
